Vancouver Sun Attacks BC Public with Full Blown Hateful Propaganda!

This is getting very serious folks...Vaughn Palmer...Johnathon Fowlie..Craig Mcinnes...Don Cayo...And the entire Vancouver Sun editorial board have been relentlessly attacking the voters of British Columbia everyday...

The ploy is so obvious, anyone with connected brain cells can see right through their attacks, the PROPAGANDA won`t work this time, the Vancouver Sun everyday is trying to ram the HST DOWN BRITISH COLUMBIAN`s THROATS....

I haven`t seen this type of pursuit of an agenda since the Vancouver Sun went after Glen Clark!!!

Could you imagine if the Sun Paper went after the BC Rail Crimes with this vigor, or imagine the Sun going after Campbell. about the BUDGET DEFICIT LIE....The Vancouver Sun has given given Gordon Campbell a free ride and paid endorsements/advertorials since 2001....

Every poll on the HST..Angus Reid....Ipsos reid...Mustel...Name any poll and BCers are 75% to 80% strongly opposed against the HST.....And that opposition and public anger towards the HST is more than a year after Campbell stabbed us in the back with the HST....

Despite all the paid pundits promoting the tax, all the spin, despite all of Colin Hansen`s weasel words the Public isn`t buying it!.....

Vaughn Palmer has written articles attacking Vander Zalm 2 days in a row...Everyday for over a week the Vancouver Sun has ran at least 2 editorials promoting the HST...And attacking Vander Zalm and canvassers, .......

Clearly with a giant majority of the public against the HST, there is only one logical answer, the VANCOUVER SUN is CONSPIRING WITH GORDON CAMPBELL .....And the VANCOUVER SUN is DIRECTLY ATTACKING the PEOPLE of BRITISH COLUMBIA.....

So desperate have the attacks become, now they are attacking a Recall Captain in the Caribou Chilcotin because he used a curse word....Oh the humanity of it all!....So desperate has the Vancouver Sun Become.......

They have become so desperate with their attacks against the public and promoting of Gordon Campbell that they can`t write the stories fast enough.....

If you think I`m wrong, explain why for 2 days in a row the Vancouver Sun has recycled stories from 1991.....Yes you heard me correctly, they are re-running stories from 1991...Stories attacking Bill Vander Zalm...And this is being done because....

On Monday September/27 on cknw ....On the Monday morning quarterback show(10:00 am to 11:00am)....

Norman Specter made a public request on the radio demanding that the Vancouver Sun start writing stories on a daily basis that smear Vander Zalm for things he did as premier 20 years ago....

And the Vancouver Sun have agreed with Norman Specter`s requests and ran attacking editorials, new stories and stories from 1991....

The only thing the people of BC can assume is......

The Vancouver Sun is the Enemy of the People of British Columbia
....

There is no other explaination.

Gordon Campbell and Colin Hansen have not been able to con the public, the people are too smart, now Gordon Campbell has called his allies who own the Vancouver Sun to come to his rescue and launch a Aldoph Hitler, Goebells Propaganda Campaign in an attempt to trick the voters, to confuse, in fact what the Vancouver Sun is doing is .....

What they are doing is so scary, can you imagine folks, what next, the Sun is not independent, they are a stealth propaganda arm of the Gordon Campbell Government, whatever Gordon Campbell tells them to do, whatever Norman Specter tells them to do they do it....
What if our Government wanted to SLASH funding for mentally disabled, never mind, Gordon Campbell did that 2 days ago.....what if Campbell wanted to close hospitals, take money from seniors, raise tuition fees, oh yea, Gordon Campbell has done all those things and the Vancouver Sun ignores it....That is Scary.....

The Vancouver Sun and Gordon Campbell are so desperate that they are re-running stories from 1991....

Your gambit will fail ....We live in a new era of LEGITIMATE on line news....Web sites, and blogs, 76% of BCers are on line, they are coming here for news, or BC Mary for news, Sean Holman for news, no longer are the public dependent on one source for the news, Aldoph Hitler didn`t have to worry about the internet, instant messaging, tweeter, Facebook, etc etc ......

It`s no wonder the newspaper business is in full collapse, the people don`t believe the printed news, they have done nothing but distort the news and me as one little blogger have done.......

More ethical , more journalistic work, more quality reporting on the Sins of  Gordon Campbell`s Government  than the entire news room of the Vancouver Sun!.....And that is the Straight Goods...

You can read the editorials/opinion pieces from 1991 here and here....Editorials from 1991 that the enemy of the people the Vancouver Sun are running in year 2010.....

Now that is sick and demented!.....And a Recall organizer in the Caribou Chilcotin used a couple of generic curse words and you put the story on the front page of your Gordon Campbell propaganda rag to.........To incite incite anger and smear...

Oh the humanity .....A Curse Word

The Straight Goods

This corrupt government has been here for almost 10 years and we're worse off than we ever have been. They keep blaming the NDP, and now pulling it all out for the Zalm. How about the bailouts to big business, banks, etc. by governments. These gangsters called themselves the experts (?) in financial management. Sheesh. We're in worse shape than we've EVER been under the BC Lieberals.

And to add, the Harper Hypocrits = BC Lieberals.

SUN, Province, etc. - best use - bathroom.

Recall in the Fall !

Well this place called B.C. ..is kind of sick and demented no? Now? Always has been a corrupt place. The ruling class in Vancouver made fortunes as "rumrunners" during prohibition down south. The heroin trade from across the Pacific made many good fortunes.
So..if recall doesn`t accomplish anything...what would be left? Logic says the only viable opposition remaining would be violence and we all know that`s just not how we do politics here.
The N.D.P. are on the sidelines and they`re not even looking in!

The Sun /Province rags, the management are cowards! They are liars, and drink gordo "the impaler" bathwater. This man has lied, stolen, and created fear among so many of the people. Hanging at this point would be advisable. You do that to enemies of the state. RECALL NOW!

The Vancouver Sun should change its name to the Völkischer Beobachter - Joseph Goebbel's newsprint propaganda arm.

It looks like the Sun and all of its sycophantic writers are the bought and paid for propaganda arm of Herr Gordo.

These guys are starting out like vicious Rottweiler attack dogs.

If they are hunting so viciously at the beginning - going after Gary E on their front page - who will be their next victim? Grant G?

And how more vicious will they get?

BC Mary said...

Hi Grant,

Many thanks for the kind words for BC Mary's work. Let me turn that around and send a tip o'the tuque back to you, too, for your work. Yes, I do think we bloggers have been slowly but surely effective.

I hold the profession of journalism in the highest esteem. Without good journalists and liberal-minded publishers, the population is helpless to know what to support, what to protest. Without good journalism we're lost in a sea of treachery.

Only yesterday, I was astonished to see a sad reflection of the BC media's policy of shielding Campbell. It was embedded in the Maclean's cover story about "The Most Corrupt Province in Canada" (Quebec). Campbell's name was never mentioned. The only mention of BC went as follows:

Quoted from Patriquin, p.17:

"Certainly Quebec doesn't have a monopoly on bad behaviour. It was in British Columbia that three premiers - Bill Vander Zalm, Mike Harcourt and Glen Clark - were punted from office in short order for a variety of shenanegans by their governments in the 1990s." [End of quote]

I felt, as a citizen and British Columbian, that I had to say something to Maclean's. So I said "This is 2/3 wrong. And 100% politically biased." I added a few details which they obviously don't know (or care) about the BC Rail Political Corruption Trial (a name originating with National Post). But I was still -- am still -- rocked by seeing a major article in a national periodical swallowing the apparently agreed style of protecting Gordon Campbell. And wherever possible, a policy of blaming the layabout NDP. Pointing fingers at Harcourt and Clark for political corruption struck me as lazy, corrupted, very bad work. It's the stupid "Me good, You bad" brand of politics. Media ceases to do its job, at that point, and they become Presstitutes. I seriously resent that.

I didn't expect my Letter-to-the-Editor to be published. When I wrote, I did so because I knew that SOMEBODY at Maclean's magazine would see my message: that the public does care about honour and duty and good governance. That's all I expected.

So I was pleasantly surprised to receive a reply. Maybe it's the standard Maclean's acknowledgement, I don't know. But in kindly tone, they thanked me for sharing my concerns which, they said, would be passed along to the publisher. So maybe THREE people at Maclean's saw it. And that's better than nothing.

All the best, Grant. Stay strong.
.

I share his anger at the present zeitgeist we are under here..B.C. and the place called "Canada"

I will attend no event requiring me to stand for an anthem...I would refuse to stand and at my age couldn`t take much of a beating.

I refer to myself now as a "Northern American" as to my nationality. I don`t use North American..I don`t want to insult the Mexicans.
This country had a brief chance...but ..real democracy is too much work...each citizen must feel a responsibility...a duty to be at least aware of what is going on in the present....like our cousins to the south the people have rejected that...they are ok with an authoritarian top down hierarchy..just don`t change the T.V. channels.

Grant, the PAB today issued a news release with Gordo telling everybody to buy the Sun and Province.

Today's Sun has the headline "Fight HST Officials Make Controversial Comments" disparaging the Zalm and the Fight HST campaign.

Then inside the Sun, the editorial "Trail of Deceit And No Apology" completely dishes the Zalm dragging up his past.

Coincidence? Methinks NOT!!!!!!!

The corporate class is getting worried, as finally the people will not buy into their lies on an issue. The HST is the "straw that broke the Campbells back", given that the people know that the Liberals, the mainstream press and Corus entertainment are a pack of miscreants, especially Norman Speculator. My Lord what a pompous turd.

The whole thing was staged, completely staged, including the guy who is amazed that he could drink 2 drinks and it doesn't even register. The sliming is coming out all over the place. The Vancouver Sun has been the most blatant, but that is not to be a big surprise. They have been running articles and editorials which have been pro HST and Gordon Campbell without any pretense of being neutral or objective.

Today on the G&M's website there is an article by Ian Bailey with the same accusations brought forward from Mike DeJong that basically mirror Terry Lake's outburst from yesterday.

In today's Burnaby Now, Keith Baldry's editorial is much the same as Vaughn Palmer's Vancouver Sun diatribe.

And of course, Bill Good is still running his little mini interviews with those BC Liberal MLAs that are supposedly in the crosshairs of the pending recall campaigns.

And to top things off, Seaspan, owned by Washington Marine, announced that they are buying 4 new tugboats. The spin is that they are now doing this because of the HST and the favourable rate of the Canadian dollar. I heard this announcement on CKNW's newscast at 5:00pm for anyone that wants to check their archives. They also had a clip from Colin Hansen saying that this was an example of the HST in action, and the jobs that would be created by Seaspan having to man these new tugs. On the surface, this may be legitimate news, but have we been given the whole story or just some select information? Are these 4 new tugboats adding to Seaspan's fleet or replacing older boats that are going to be retired out of service? If it is the former, then Hansen's claims of added jobs is legitimate, but if it is the latter, then Hansen is blowing smoke once again. Then there is the matter of whether the advent of the HST helped drive this purchase or the tax advantage of using the profits from selling the Fastcats to Dubai and reducing profits a motivation? Finally, why did Seaspan even bother announcing that they are buying these new tugboats? Have they announced purchases of new equipment in the past? Not that I can recall. What I can tell you is that Seaspan has donated $18,805 to the BC Liberal Party from 2005 to 2009 and Washington Marine Group has ponied up another $904 to the BC Liberals cause. I won't even bother mentioning the fact that the Washington Marine Group was more than happy to display the Fastcats in full view of the residents of downtown Vancouver for many years after they acquired them from the BC taxpayers for nothing more than a song. Oops, I guess I just did. My bad!

Crankypants,

At least the wee weasel Colin Hansen got something 1/2 right. It is indeed an example of the HST in action - a yearly HST transfer tax of 2 billion dollars from the corporate mafia to the taxpayers (and a favorable Canadian dollar) gives them a lot of buying power. As for the other half he got wrong as usual, these tugs are either replacements or W.G. can well afford to just keep them in drydock right along side Gordon Campbell's very own Ferry Fiasos, his c-class lemons. (Weasel - When the corporate mafia is wiping out the middle class there won't be any jobs created). The Campbell lemons sit in dry-dock 4 out of 7 days a week because they are gas guzzlers, the parts are hugely expensive, take two years to get from Russia, tear up the shoreline and the docks because they cannot idle when loading and unloading, and because of Campbell's huge over-runs on them he had the made in Germany non-union lemons' aluminum down-graded to the cheapest available and put on a top deck, making them top heavy and the top deck unusable because they would tip over. W.G. did not even have to sing for them....Campbell also threw in a huge chunk of OUR waterfront property compliments of himself. I believe W.G. sold them for $300 million.

Last I heard there was a 3 year wait list in Abu Dhabi for Glen's boats.

I believe Campbell was offered upwards of $100 million but held out for $19.8 million when he gave away the beautiful fast ferries.

The good old wooden boats, union made in B.C. still do most of the work.

I agree with Jaydee on the speeding story. We were watching (unfortunately) that station tonight and they also ran that story. My spouse said (who hates news), why is this on now? This happened days ago. Be prepared for many more stories that don't tell it like it really is, or is "old" news.

The mainstream media participate willingly with the corruption and spreading of propoganda.

Blogs like this, and others, not mainstream media, are far more interesting and in my view, accurate on the topics.

Keep up the good work Grant.

RUMOURS ABOUND CAMPBELL WILL REDUCE HST RATE ON FRIDAY

Delta – Former BC premier and Fight HST Leader Bill Vander Zalm says he has been informed by reliable sources that BC Premier Gordon Campbell will announce a cut to the HST rate in his speech to the UBCM Convention scheduled for this Friday at 11:00am in Whistler.

“If that’s true this will be our second victory, though still partial, in as many weeks,” said Vander Zalm, referring to the premier’s recent claim that he will hold a binding, simple majority referendum to repeal the HST.

Vander Zalm says his sources confirm that the premier will announce the date of the Referendum will be moved up as well. “That’s good too. But we’ll have to see exactly when that will be, whether it will be a fair and neutral question, and under what BC law he will conduct the referendum. Right now, he’s making up policy on the fly, day by day, so things could still change dramatically.”

But Vander Zalm says that British Columbians who want the HST extinguished should be cautious, since all of the recent decisions by Premier Campbell fly in the face of his previous assertions that the tax could not be changed, creating a massive credibility gap.

“700,000 people signed the petition to repeal the tax, not reduce it. Many signed the petition because they believed the government had no mandate to introduce it because they lied during the election about not bringing it in, and about not even having it on their radar before the election. Nothing the premier is doing changes any of that, and if British Columbians stand fast, they will eventually force the government to get rid of the tax altogether.”

Vander Zalm says the premier keeps changing his story.

So this morning on NW Michael Levy was going on and on with this talking point (from an article written by Tony Williams in the Globe and Mail).

"HST will result in British Columbians paying 7 per cent tax on about 20 per cent more of the goods and services they purchase — that’s 7 per cent of 20 per cent, or about 1.4-per-cent more."

Misleading. Using Mr. Williams figures (7% of 20% or 1.4%)

Before July 1, 2010 tax on $10000 = $1060
($8000 x 12% + $2000 x 5%)

After July 1, 2010 tax on $10000 = $1200

A difference of $140.

The tax rate DID go up 1.4%, but the amount of tax PAID went up 13.2%. (140/1060 x 100)

Oops.

Crankypants said...

Anon 12:25

I believe the author of that diatribe in the Globe & Mail was Tony Wilson of the Boughton Law Group, whose firm just happened to donate $21,980 to the BC Liberal Party between 2005 and 2009 and nothing to any other provincial political party.

His 5 points were all based on using only the data that would support his assertions and ignoring anything that would contradict his findings.

The problem is that most of these proponents downplay the part where the HST is shifting $1.9 billion dollars of taxes from business to consumer every year going forward. That equates to $1.9 billion dollars being removed from the economy every year going forward.

Accountants and economists can play with figures and percentages until the cows come home, but no matter how they try and spin things, the majority of us have only so much income that we must ration to house, clothe and feed ourselves with. Whatever is left after these needs are seen to will be what we can spend on our creature comforts and hopefully save for such things as a rainy day and our retirement.

In my particular situation, I think I will be okay, but I'm not nearly as confident about my children's future.

The news media has an obligation to deliver honest and unbiased information. They get special privileges to accomplish this, and in my opinion, they have been failing miserably. If they want to be a National Enquirer type, then they should have to advertise this so that the great unwashed are not being led down the garden path.

A lot has been made about the demise of the newspaper in North America and attributed to the advent of the internet. Maybe the real culprit is their lack of journalistic integrity. If people feel that they are not getting what they expect, they will surely walk away and seek other sources.

Let's talk about 'trickle down' This term is used by the media all the time. We keep hearing that if we keep the rich, richer, than we will get some of the trickle down, aka their crumbs. Well after a decade or so of trickle down, I'd like to observe that this is not so! It only makes those same rich, richer. Newspapers love to promote trickle down on behalf of the rich, or what feels like theft.

Looks as though trickle down, really means uploading. Uploading from your pocket to theirs.

Our community, has an excellent underground and barter system. With all of the provincial tax hikes, and the HST on pretty much everything else. This winter, is going to see, evictions and utility cut offs. In the north, we are, still recession poor. Campbell has caused, 36.000, job losses, for our mill workers. Every time, a mill closes in BC, another mill opens in China, that's where our raw logs go as well. Campbell's $6.00 per hour minimum wage, wouldn't even cover his booze bill. Chomp, chomp Chong, chomped her way through, $6.000, of fine dining. That is more than some families of four, have for food, in an entire year. As, BC is a province of natural resources, the HST will not benefit the BC people, what-so-ever. BC's HST goes directly to Campbell's best buddy Harper, as was prearranged. To find good and honest journalism, has become, an exercise in futility. You can find the truth of, what is going on in BC, in the eastern newspapers. I quit buying newspapers, out of Vancouver, a long time ago. Their bias, is far too obvious, and dishonest. They have just become, smear rags.
