I recently sent a shot across the bow of the Vancouver Sun, specifically I was adressing Fazi Mitzar, the head of the Vancouver Sun editorial board....
I have been waiting for the HST truth to be told, the truth about how the HST will lower BC,s GDP, lower BC,s employment numbers, the truth how the HST will cost the BC Economy billions of dollars and tens of thousands of jobs, that folks is the HST truth.........
Can anyone of you believe that a corporation would make any financial move, a financial move that would see their customers pay more, drive down their retail numbers, cost them jobs and maybe, just maybe in 10 years they might recoup their losses.....It wouldn`t happen!
Because that is exactly how the HST will affect the Province of British Columbia, I can tell that the corporate world would never do anything to hurt their bottom line on a wing and a prayer, and especially during a worldwide depression, the only thing keeping BC,s economy going was consumer borrowing and buying, locals buying local, the HST has put a fork in that balloon and our economy is waning, deficits will be larger, GDP will be lower more BCers will be jobless, the $1.6 billion dollar bribe will cost BC double that amount every year!!!
If you were to bring in an HST it would/should have been done when the economy was booming, same way with the minimum wage, it should have been raised years ago, now with the economy in the tank because of the HST minimum wage will not be raised.......Back to the HST.....
Fazi Mitzar, when are they going to write about all the service cuts because of the HST, the lost jobs, the deficits, the ever increasing debt, Jack Mitnz wrote how BC and Ontario would lose tens of thousands of jobs, GDP would be substantially lower, deficits higher, Jack Mintz and the right ring CD Howe institute have double confirmed these negative affects associated with the HST....Even Jack Mintz`s most rosy outlook is.....
"In 10 years jobs numbers might increase and true wage increases might occur"
10 years we might see a gain?.....That is the highlight statement from Jack Mintz and CD Howe, you gotta be kidding me,.........So where is the Vancouver Sun and or Province newspaper headline.........
"Gordon Campbell and Colin Hansen deliberately harm BC Economy over the HST lie"
There have been some HST stories in both rags, who knew what when, radar radar radar..nadir...Who cares about that part of the story, we here at the Straight Goods have the smoking gun again........
Gordon Campbell has a suscription, a mailer from the B.C. Progress board, the B.C. Progress board doesn`t sell to the general public, their semi-annual reports go out to one person, the Premier of B.C......
I can guarantee you that in December 2008 Gordon Campbell read the "Report to Government" from the B.C. Progress board, not only is Gordon Campbell on the record as to reading the BC Progress board`s report, he has done interviews for the periodical, so the bullshit from Colin Hansen and Gordon Campbell not having the HST on their radar is a lie, a provable lie....
Everything in the BC Progress board`s December 2008 recommendation to Government was followed to the Tee by Gordon Campbell.....
The BC Progress board was asking for tax credits for the film industry, Campbell delivered, but what did the BC Progress board say about the HST to Gordon Campbell in December 2008?
The BC Progress said that consumers would be hit disproportionately hard by the tax shift, the board suggested low income and poor people could be helped with tax credits, the BC Progress board said to Campbell in December that the HST was good for big business and with the adoption of the HST in about 10 years business and the Province would start to see the benefit!!!!
But folks, this is where it gets very interesting, the BC Progress board, the report, the report that got put in front of Gordon Campbell, the report that Gordon Campbell has already admitted to reading, that december 2008......
The most telling thing that the BC Progress board said to Gordon Campbell was this.....I will cut and paste, you can`t make this stuff up....Read the whole report here
Assuming harmonization of British Columbia with the federal GST could be achieved without signiicantly increasing or decreasing provincial revenues, implementation would face a number of challenges. Moving from a tax on business inputs to a tax on consumer goods and services entails a substantial and highly visible shift of the tax burden from businesses to consumers, even IF reduced costs are Eventually passed on to consumers in the form of lower prices. The revenue that would be lost from rebating taxes on business inputs would be replaced by broadening the tax base. Consumers would face higher taxes on a wide range of services and new housing currently exempt from the PST. Assuming a rate of 7% for the provincial portion of the harmonized sales tax, the total federal-plus-provincial sales tax rate would rise from 5 percent(the current GST rate) to 12 percent on items such as restaurant meals, home heating oil, basic cable and telephone, and new condo units. In the short and medium term, lower-income British Columbians could see declines in real income as consumer prices rise. Public opposition to such a shift would be a substantial concern to policymakers. Similar concerns have thwarted sales tax harmonization by all provinces west of Quebec(except Alberta) since the GST was introduced in 1991.
The next section in the BC Progress board report to Gordon Campbell outlines tax credits, exemptions, bribes from Ottawa, every thing that the liars Gordon Campbell and Colin Hansen did was written by the BC Progress board, every move, every talking point, every mitigation effort, the BC Progress board wanted the HST and Gordon Campbell who sleeps with the BC Progress report under his pillow followed it to the letter.....
Pay special attention to the above page from that report...How the BC Progress board states,,,"IF PRICES go down.....Eventually if prices fall"...And that final statement from the progress board, "Public opposition to such a shift would be a substantial concern to policymakers"snip.....
In other words friends, back in December 2008, 6 months before our election Gordon Campbell read the BC Progress report from front to back and at that time decided to ram the HST down our throats post-election, and in fact the BC Progress board report gave Gordon Campbell a direct warning about voter backlash, so Gordon Campbell being the avid reader and listener decided right there and then to deceive the voters until after the election....
So who knew what and when, that answer was December/2008 Gordon Campbell decided to stick a knife in our back, a deliberate lie, a plan hatched by the BC Progress board, and the corporate trough sucking stooge Gordon Campbell rammed it down our throats, he lied, Gordon Campbell lied, the argument about who knew what and when/where is moot, ......
The only thing left lays with the Vancouver Sun and Global/CTV news, are they going to tell the truth, the truth about the job losses, the truth about reduced GDP, higher deficits for the next 7 years, more unemployed people in B.C. because of the HST, and with no way to quantify any benefit of an HST, maybe in 10 years the trickle down will reach my leg......
On another note friends.....I was a little soft on Jordan Bateman yesterday, toobad...
Does the name Scott Nelson ring a bell, he was once mayor of Williams lake, he too is calling on Gordon Campbell to step down, Michael Smyth wrote about him today, how he hates the HST.....But.....
Just like Jordon Bateman, Scott Nelson believes that the BC Liberals are peachy keen, how great they are for the economy(LOL).....Scott Nelson talks about "saving the Party"...."Keeping the NDP out"...."It`s the party stupid".....Just like Bateman....
And a very astute contributor who wrote a comment under Jordon Bateman`s blog stating...."It`s always about the party, what about the public"....
B.C. Liberals don`t care about the public, they care about power, sucking from the trough, they care about money in their bank accounts, about corruption, Gordon Campbell only cares about screwing the girls who work under him, a adulterous backstabbing liar, a con man, a thief, a felon, an habitual liar, a hater of children, a hater of seniors, a hater of the sick or needy...And his Brother Michael Campbell is just as twisted, what demon seed was planted by the Campbell`s mother and father, pure demon spawn!
Where was I.......Forget about Colin Hansen and Campbell, the people know they deliberately lied, no new leader will save the party...Scott Nelson can go blow it out his butt, Jordon Bateman can take it in said butt....
Does anyone want to talk about the insanity of deliberately harming the economy for at least a decade, do a study, anyone, UBC..SFU..CD Howe...Fraser institute..anyone, do a study and here`s the question, over a 10 year period you leave $20 billion consumer dollars in the Provincial economy, how many jobs will you create?...Answer......
A heck of a lot more than siphoning $20 billion dollars out of the economy...
Well Fazi and the Vancouver Sun....Are you going to report facts or are you going to continue to get embarrassed and outclassed by the Straight Goods.
Well here is your answer about the Vancouver Sun...Don Cayo just wrote a sad pathetic piece soft selling Gordon Campbell and the HST....Cayo asks you would you have voted for Gordon Campbell if he told you about the HST...Then Cayo asks Carole James would she get rid of the HST and what would she replace the HST revenue with, what taxes would the NDP raise for money?
You see folks, first off Cayo is forgiving Campbell, he claims it`s the voters fault, second, he is ignoring the job losses, reduced GDP for the province, he is ignoring the HST truth....It`s bad policy, it brings in less revenue than the old PST, he fails to mention the loss of Provincial revenue caused by consumer pullback....And folks, Don Cayo is the Vancouver Sun`s tax guy, he knows better, it`s a sad pathetic piece Cayo wrote, they are the enemy......Over 3 years the Province will see $3 billion less in revenue, taxes will have to be raised because of the HST...
Am I the only one talking the truth???....Read Cayo`s trash here

Same with the NDP. Power is the end all and be all. They will keep the HST and are also playing games with the public.
It's time to recall them all and I mean ALL MLA's (except Vicki Huntington) and CRUSH both parties.
Time to elect independents and a myriad of MLAs from other small parties so that no one has absolute power as absolute power corrupts absolutely.
In May of 2005 Canwest Global "donated" $50,000 to the Gordon Campbell "Liberal" party. W.T.F.?

Grant, Charlie Smith wrote about it in the Straight yesterday. Crossposted as well by Norm Farrell. It walks like a lame duck, talks like a lame duck...
Taxes to be raised. And just what do you think taxes will the lieberals and Cons raise? The HST of course. That way they can both blame each other and therefore no one takes the blame, except to blame it on each other. Such a game, such a game. Who suffers? You and I joe citizen, average working stiff just trying to make ends meet.
Recall in the Fall!
I just read Cayo's diatribe and just can't believe the lengths the Postmedia sycophants, formerly Canwest sycophants, will go to in support of the BC Liberal Party. He is just using one of the BC Liberal tactics, which is to deflect the focus from their favoured party to the opposition.
I also noticed that the Vancouver Sun ran an editorial penned by Colin Hansen in Saturday's paper, and The Province ran a letter to the editor from Hansen in Sunday's paper. It's bad enough we have to endure their biased opinions during an election, but this is getting to be a little much.
The message that Scott Nelson brought forth on today's Global newscast reminds me of the phony support of the FightHST campaign Ian Tostenson and Mark Von Shellwitz offered. On the surface they portrayed themselves as being against the HST, but only because of its impact on the restaurant industry. They never once stated that they understood the impact this tax would have on the electorate, nor did either of them indicate that they no longer supported Gordon Campbell. They were just looking for an exemption for their industry, and no matter what happens going forward, they will be supporting the BC Liberal Party come next election. They only care about the big chains and high-end restaurants they represent while the mom and pop operations can go to hell.
I agree with Anon 8:55, but unfortunately the electorate has been brainwashed into believing that they must choose amongst the parties running rather than expanding their horizons and considering those candidates that are not under the thumb of one or the other of the major parties.
First we must rid ourselves of the HST, then we must rid ourselves of the status quo, politically speaking. The best way to force a change to how we are governed is to not play by their rules but invoke rules of our own. The system we have now serves the politicians and their parties well at present but leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to the electorate.
Cam
Like the Communist or Fascist newspapers of old, the Sun and province, spout the Liberal Party Line and as such, are no longer credible. They are mere fishwrap.
The BC Liberals (as well as BC NDP) adhere to the party line like glue, with promises of power via government posts or government jobs. As such they live in a bubble, preened by sycophants and soon lose any grip on reality they had.
What is needed is just not regime change, but a complete overhaul on how or government operates. The NDP, once in power will be worse than Campbell's effort and the the government after the NDP will be even worse yet. This downward spiral of corrupt government may very well destroy not only BC but Canada as well.
Hansen had no idea that the hst was so close at hand on his desk waiting to be read it got the same attention as the picton report by our various ag's
Another reason he didnt have clue about the approaching hst... because they were all busy shredding emails and I imagine various other documents pertaining to the bc rail trial prior to the last election, everyone seems to have forgotten that.. I keep hearing GC's message of huge fat salary packages courtesy of the taxpayer will attract the best and brightest... ya right
electoral fraud criminal charges need to be laid and a forensic audit need to be done
Grant said: Does the name Scott Nelson ring a bell, he was once mayor of Williams lake, he too is calling on Gordon Campbell to step down"
Why the hell doesn't anyone call for Carole James to also step down? Once the focus turns back to her ... she's like a Gordo clone who no one likes.
"Hi Kim
Our plan for the HST is to get the committee to put the Bill to a vote this fall and ditch the tax now rather than leave it to the distant future.
Assuming the Fibs vote the Bill down and do not proceed to a referendum, our platform at the next election would include giving notice to the Feds the we would wind down the HST at the end of the 5 year term or sooner if negotiations proved effective.
The Conservatives need to feel the heat on this as well. Every time Harper thinks of BC he should be reminded that he is on the wrong side of this issue.
Cheers
Horgan"
Seems pretty clear to me...
Okay, I should clarify. After weeks of seeing people speculate on what the NDP would do, I asked my MLA (Who I voted for, but do not belong to the party), John Horgan.
I've met John a couple of times, he lives in his riding, his kids went to public school here. He's always prompt and straightforward in his replies.
The above was his first response. I replied, "Thanks John, may I share your reply?",
"Dont see why not Kim. That is the position we have taken from the beginning. Kill it now before small businesses and consumers are hit too hard. Better to stop a failed experiment after two months than continue to harm the economy and anger voters. If they insist on ignoring the public, an NDP government - three years from now - would advise Ottawa that the deal is not in the public interest and then take steps to correct the policy blunder. That is our position as I understand it.
Now three years is an awfully long time. Our platform will reflect the times in 2012-13. I cannot predict what the world will look like at that time. But our plan today is to follow the steps I have outlined. The reason for that is very simple. Politicians promising what they can't deliver does nothing to restore public confidence. Obama said he would close Guantonamo Bay, Chretien said he would kill the GST. Both are still in place. The Liberals have signed a five year deal and taken a huge amount of blood money to seal it. Based on my experience as a former senior government official, it will not be as easy to undue as we would all hope. But certainly not impossible as the Liberals and the editorial boards like to tell us.
We will make our best effort to fix the screw up and the public will judge us on the results. That seems to me to be a practical solution to a complex problem.
Cheers
Horgan"
So, that is where the NDP stand on the HST...
"The Liberals have signed a five year deal and taken a huge amount of blood money to seal it."
The Liberals haven't actually taken payment on much of this "blood money!" They have actually collected a fraction and just play with the rest on the imaginary books!
Harper and Ignatieff, both first said, no to the HST. The both of them, are snakes in the grass. Campbell and Hansen, lied and cheated, to win Campbell's re-election. Campbell and Hansen, got to Campbell's buddy Harper, at the speed of light. Campbell doesn't give a rip about, the BC Liberal party name, because, Campbell isn't a Liberal. Canada and the provinces, are governed by, corruption and greed. The HST goes directly to Harper. The HST has sent costs sky high. Small business owners, have had to close their doors, the HST has killed them. The provincial budget, was bad enough, with tax hikes. Add the HST. There will be many evictions and utility cut offs, this coming winter.
