Colin Hansen, B.C.s Second Best Conmen!/UPDATED
A must read editorial/opinion piece from the Burnaby Now
Sorry folks, I implore you to read the above editorial/opinion piece....After you read the story you will realize that Colin Hansen and the other habitual liar Gordon Campbell will never stop lying, never stop spinning, never stop trying to fool the public....It`s a short read, direct, to the point and so simply put that even a caveman could understand it....
Yet I doubt Colin Hansen/Gordon Campbell and the PAB can grasp the fact that we, the people are onto their routine of lies, distortion and propaganda.....
Enjoy the read...

UPDATED HERE
I read the HST story in the Vancouver Sun and Province newspaper, you know the story, Zalm`s recall surviver hit list....I spread the Burnaby Now scathing editorial link under the comment section of the story....And guess what....First the Vancouver Sun yanked the story, a few minutes later the Province yanked the story....The PAB was all over the Canwest comment section today...But thew link and Burnaby now story trumped them and made Hansen look like a fool!!!1....So someone ordered the stories pulled, the comment section was killing Hansen and Campbell...Recognize the enemy, the enemy are BC Liberals and Canwest Global/CTV and CKNW....We got these losers running scared folks...Don`t let up, Campbell and his party are finished!

$335 million will buy a lot of math tutoring.
Just more garbage to distract us from the absolute destrucion of B.C. and Canada by Campbell and Harper.
Harper beefing up defense and paying the disabled Vets more closely to what they deserve and then the huge wages to come for the Armed Forces to act against it's own people. More bribes. Our Canadian Armed Forces join forces with Campbell's RED ARMY in Vancouver. Guess Robertson's OK with the RED ARMY too.
Refer to Grant's favourite blogs, Betty Krawcyzk, this is in preparation for Recall. Harper is already building more prisons to hold Canada's citizens.
Don't forget the phony cyanide crap happening in Vancouver and where is Robertson, building bike lanes? Shock value....again no comment from Vancouver's MAYOR.
Remember that line ....A line that was coined by Gordon Campbell, .....
Martyn Brown was on the stand(BC Rail trial)...He couldn#t remember anything, he was asked if he remembered Gordon Campbell saying...
`:Shoot one monkey and scare a thousand:
I guess Betty Krawcyzk is one of those monkeys in Campbells line of fire!
Grant, this fairytale of a budget update is just the beginning of the crap we will be fed by Campbell & Co., the business community and most of the MSM.
Last night on the late news on GlobalTV, which just happens to have the largest viewership on the lower mainland, ran a man in the street segment which featured a couple of people stating that they signed the petition but would vote to keep the HST in the referendum. Then they read a couple of emails stating the same thing. They didn't say whether they interviewed others or received other emails, but one must be suspicious.
Then today on Sean Leslie's show, 3:30pm-4:00pm in the Audiovault of CKNW, he featured an interview with a "quote" tax expert. The gentleman was David Robertson from Fasken Martineau LLP. My guess is he specializes in the tax matters that this law firm gets involved with. Well Mr. Robertson started out by stating that he preferred the PST for his business because it created much business for his firm trying to avoid taxes for their clients. Instead of Hansen's example of new carpets in the funeral parlour, he used the new barber chair at the barber shop. The whole half hour was nothing but an infommercial for the pro HST crowd.
I decided to look up at Elections BC to see if Fasken Martineau had made any contributions to any provincial parties in the last while. Here is what I found:
2005-$42,130
2006-$19,790
2007-$23,090
2008-$23,750
2009-$39,900
For a total of $148,660 to the BC Liberal Party. As for the NDP, Green Party or any other registered provincial party, they donated nothing. Maybe Sean should have mentioned this little tidbit in the interest of pretending to be impartial, or at least warn the listener that the opinions that they are about to hear are not unbiased.
Sadly most of those that listened to these two examples will not bother to question the sources and just accept what they hear as gospel. We cannot assume anything regarding the upcoming vote on the initiative. If we want to get rid of the HST, we must make sure that the spindoctors employed by Campbell and friends do not dominate the discussion.
It is looking more and more that our best chance to get rid of the HST will still come down to recall. At least, that's the way I see it.
Cam
Yup Cam, have to agree with you. Give that crowd of liars and their controlled media a year and they will snow us blind. Killing not only any chance of getting rid of the HST, but also any chance of real democracy which this could spark.
Recall in the fall!
Cam,
Those PAB (Campbell) plants actually went one step further, saying now that they know PAB's (Hansen's) complete lies re HST are the 'truth' they want to know how they can remove their names from the HST initiative petition. Like as if they signed!! Stupid is as stupid does.
All the people who appeared on the corrupt Global TV (news) are scum, just like who they hang with.
Jean
Jean, I agree wholeheartedly, but the problem is that we live amongst too many gullible people. They are so absorbed in their little world that they just don'y pay attention. Instead of trying to find out about things, they just accept the Coles Notes version and move on.
In my parents' day, political discussions were a mainstay in their daily lives. In my day, an issue to be sure, but not nearly as prevalent. My children do vote, but I'm afraid the political part of the programme is not nearly as important to them as it should be.
Everything goes in cycles, and maybe there will come a time when the political scene will be more prominent in the lives of the masses, but I think that may take a while. In the mean time we will just have to do the best we can with what we are forced to face.
Cam
If we, collectively as Canadians, continue to cling to and pledge allegiance to a family in Britain that lives in a castle, we will always continue to be a country that has a desire to be a nation.
As long as the British Parliamentary system is in place in Canada, you can expect more of the same, on a continuing basis; identical complaints about ANY political party that happens to rule today.
Someone mentioned democracy? You’re kidding right?
First past the post is the LEAST DEMOCRATIC of all political systems, so why continue to advocate for a system that clearly does not serve us well, either on the left side or the right?
Great work Cam!!!!!
I heard that segment on Sean Leslie...Sean asked for callers but the line rang busy and no phone in callers were allowed...
That clown lied about Atlantic Canada...
For the record for the 100th time.......
Atlantic Canada when they adopted the HST in 1996....Their combined tax rate was....PST-GST was a staggering 19.2%
As an olive branch to accept the combined HST the tax rate was lowered to 15%.....
4% percentage points were knocked off their provincial tax rate.....
Services and housing prices rose when they adopted the HST....and in about 1 year.....
Prices fell, prices fell by a whopping 1%....
Yet 4 percentage points were knocked off their provincial tax rate!!!!!!
In BC...we are not getting taxes lowered, millions of items are getting 7% ...7 percentage points of tax added to them!!!
And as for Quebec, Quebec still has the provincial power to exempt items from tax, they still collect all their tax, it is not the same deal BC and Ontario signed,.....
Quebec maintained controll......
And finally, Quebec and the Maritimes even with their HST have lagged behind Ontario and BC...
If we are going to have a debate on the HST let#s be honest!!!!
Colin Hansen-Gordon Campbell, honesty......Oops, never mind my last statement!
Grant, the Zalmster will not be recalling Scambell. Since you are one of his most ardent critics and have previously stated that you will be forefront in recalling Scambell - Why don't you be the lead proponent for Recall in Vancouver Point Grey? Both I and everyone else will join you to give Scambell his humiliating just dessert!
Editor:
The recall is coming, the people who worked on the HST fight are very much more organized with the recall, Kamloops alone has already double the canvassers than with the HST fight. More joining every day. But the LIEberals are busy doing what they do. Do the people know that the two leaders of BC elections are gone, kicked out! Replaced by a liberal appointee? So the temporary Liberal appointee is blatantly screwing with an independent office right before recalls start. Graig James (Liberal appointed head of Elections BC) had made a major change to their organization. A "restructuring" has pushed out the second in command, deputy chief electoral officer Linda Johnson. The acting chief electoral officer is reorganizing Elections B.C. and her position as deputy chief electoral officer was eliminated. She had been with Elections B.C. for 28 years, the last 19 of them as deputy CEO. A major restructuring of Elections BC is NOT a routine matter. It should await the appointment of a new CEO. The NDP should be denouncing this abuse of power and demanding that the changes be reversed forthwith. My goodness, where are the big media on this story? This is mind boggling. First, what is an interim chief doing reorganizing the office and making major changes? It is an awful lot for an interim chief to take on on his own initiative. And as an irregular appointee he does not have a mandate from the legislature to do it. I like the word sociopath, this Liberal government is full of them. The people of BC should be up in arms about this. Speak out people or suffer the consequences that will come down the road.

Why was the article pulled. Received a notice that said the article is no longer available.
What happened?
Grant, the stories are both back up at the Sun and Province websites, complete with comments.
They still have managed to avoid the crap happening at Elections BC though.
Cam
Cam...First the Vancouver sun story vanished, then the Province, than minutes later the editorial in the Burnaby now vanished,
The only reason they brought it back is because it was too late!...I had it, I sent it all over town, posted it everywhere!
But why was the story pulled from the Burnaby now?..Why did it vanish?....
We know why it returned, a barrage of complaints to the editors at Canwest....
I am in the habit of printing Canwest stories of interest....Printing them before they are obliterated!

You may be interested to know that law firms (especially the larger ones), have been known to donate to MORE THAN ONE political party at a time. :)
"In the Know"
Throw Vander Zalm back in the toilet he came from! And flush it quick before he climbs out again. He had just totally screwed the people of BC.
With all his horseshit delaying tactics and not targetting Campbell he has snatched defeat from the very jaws of victory. He saw history smiling on him and didn't have the heart, the nerve or the moral compass to grasp the golden ring and ascend to the ranks of those whose very memory is loved by all. The whole world was watching and saw him play us for fools. We have an Angus Reid poll showing that 76% of the people in at least 12 Liberal ridings would actually go to the polls and vote for recall. What does Vonder Boy do? He holds a contest to possibly put some pressure on in three ridings and which will ensure that this rotten government we all suffer under will not be defeated! That is called a red herring, also know as lying to the people in an effort to divert their attention from the subject at hand. Thing is, it is so crude and so obvious that it may not have its desired effect. People who are fed up with lies may just throw Vander Zalm off the train and roll on to victory without him. Or we lose one of the very few chances we will ever have to improve our standard of living and standard of political reality - our choice.
And today on the CBC, they had Chris Delany on for all of a few minutes and he was pushing the same 'Survival' malarky when who should phone and scold him like a schoolboy but Bill Bennet. (the former premier of British Columbia who was convicted of insider trading and banned from securities trading for 10 years, was up on his high horse telling us how honest he is compared to Delaney)
Well Chris, I guess it's nice to know who your friends are. The CBC has never been balanced - they'll snow you blind with stories about Peter Gzowski or Farley Mowat's boat, but when it comes down they always land hard right just like they did today. Don't you know you are being taken for a fool?
So that leaves the NDP, don't expect too much. If they had a real leader, now is the time to take the gloves off and come out fighting. But they don't. Some people even suspect they'be been infiltrated and nullified by the neocons. Well, I can't think for you.
So to all those people who canvassed for petition votes, well you have my sympathy, but they only way to get back on track is to throw away those leaders who have stabbed you in the back and start organizing riding by riding. You don't have to listen to Vander Zalm if you think he just another neocon emerging from his Trojan horse. Throw him off the train!

Well, I tried to post about Vander Zalm and his new bag of tricks twice here, but such was my anger at the way he is trying to screw BC with his bag of 'Survival' tricks that I wrote to much to be accepted in these comments. A quick recap then:
1. Vander Zalm is showing his true colors. He lead us all down the garden path and now he panicks when he sees how much we want an honest government.
2. This latest malarky is designed to split the opposition to Campbell and the HST on tactics. Divide and conquer anyone?
3. It is a delaying tactic designed to stretch this out until next summer. What happened to Recall in the Fall? Vander Zalm never had any intention of that.
4. They aren't targetting Campbell because? Oh, because Chris Delaney thinks he may retire. Makes me wonder if Campbell was ever targetted. Oh, and because there are a lot of apartment buildings in Campbell's riding and the apartment owners may not let the canvassers in the building or 'they may be in Europe.' I couldn't make stuff like that up.
Any way you look at it, the anti-Campbell anti-HST movement is being completely derailed by a Trojan horse by the name of Bill Vander Zalm. Throw him off the the train and carry on. WE the people are not afraid of DEMOCRACY!
Moreover. Chris Delaney might well think about retirement after letting Bill Bennet; a known and convicted criminal, run roughshod over him after CBC blindsided him by having Bennet cued up to tear into him like a pitbull. The people who work at CBC know where their bread is buttered.
And Chris will be remembered as one of the two people who screwed the opposition to the HST. It isn't about just the HST and we all know that. So go and dig a hole for yourself and Vander Zalm and lie in it.
The level of discourse is getting a little loud...
First off...Grant G is the one who is supposed to sound deranged!
Second, I have already written extensively on the topic...
Check my archives..."An Open letter to Bill Vander Zalm"
I agree with some of the above....Bill Vander Zalm does not want the NDP to gain power!
Zalm does not want to bring down the Government.
Zalm DOES want the HST removed for the right reasons, it`s an economy killer and enemy of the middle class.
But.....
But I believe that if Campbell stalls, if Campbell does not make the referendum binding..
If Campbell tries to ram the HST down BCers throat through guile, through our tax dollars on ads that.....
That Bill Vander Zalm WILL bring down the Government through recalls.....
Point grey will be a tough riding and shouldn`t be first.....
And...When Donna Barnett and Ida Chomp Chong and Eric Foster are successfully recalled Campbell will cancel the HST, at that point Campbell will have but a 2 seat advantage in the legislature and Campbell will see visions of being physically removed from Government, a Canadian first...
But....Here is the kicker, the recalls won`t stop and complete defection will be underway...
Campbell will be gone and the liklyhood of a general election will loom large!
And there is one other possible scenario....
Gordon Delusional Campbell refuses to budge on anything and 6 MLAs cross the floor or sit independent and then the Gorvernment falls on the next money bill.....New leaders, new election...
With .....
With parties vowing to make recall and initiatives easier....
People Power folks!
And barring that...I will recall Gordon Campbell
PERSONALLY!
Is an election necessary if the balance of power(majority) in the legislature is shifted away from the liberals?? Could the NDP approach the GG and say they're prepared to form a majority govt , at least until the fixed election date? That would save the money of an election and accomplish the humiliation of the liberals.
Just a random thought.
Grant said - "And barring that...I will recall Gordon Campbell PERSONALLY!"
Bravo!!!!! When you go after the chicken - you don't go after the chicken's legs, or the chicken's fingers, or the chicken's breast, etc. you CUT THE HEAD OFF THE CHICKEN!
That's going for Gordo's throat in Point Grey. All the troops are lined up behind you in Metro Vancouver, Grant, to take Gordo down.
I can now foresee the headline in a future Vaughn Palmer column: "BC Blogger Mobilizes Forces In Successful Campbell Humiliation Recall".
And it can't come soon enough!
Grant, I also forgot to say that I can also foresee the front-page headline of the Vancouver Sun, on the same day, with a photo of you extending a pink slip to Gordo (photo-shopped version) with the caption "You're FIRED" al la Donald Trump! LOL
There is nothing more grass roots than citizens working together to counteract the corrosive effect of incompetent and corrupt government.
The fact the legislation (which was designed NEVER to work) has been used by an effective and well organized citizenry to begin the necessary process of wrestling the reins of power from the corporate kleptomaniac who has held them for the last decade is the most 'democratic' thing to happen in this province since the last time the legislation was used effectively - to rid the legislature of a BC Liberal MLA called Paul Reitsma.
The above is from another person who I have great regard for, from another blog, and I could not have said it any better myself. Democracy for the people.
Looking forward to Recall!
Gordon Campbell ate his green cape today.....by removing the fuel tax at YVR for international carriers. But of course, all us peons are still paying the carbon (do nothing) tax grab.
What a hypocrite he is.
Grant, FYI I picked up the part of crankypants comment on the free ad for Campbell and ran with it here in the Cariboo/Chilcotin. It's not going on the blogosphere yet but I'm sure it will soon.
Also for the longwinded anonymouse above: When are you going to listen. It is not up to Vander Zalm and Delaney as to when a recall happens. It's up to a registered voter in each riding. Vander Zalm is a catalyst that just happens to have a organization that will help all Ridings. And the other website is www.recallinthefall.net. Have a look.
Anon 2:58pm
You may wish to re-read my comment on Fasken Martineau's political contributions again. They only contributed to one party, the BC Liberal Party.
Cam
Gary says:
'Vander Zalm is a catalyst that just happens to have a(sic) organization that will help all Ridings.'
Nope. Vander Zalm is the guy who will make sure that this government never gets recalled.
Vander Zalm et all are the bright boys who have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, stolen the heart from the Lion of Public Opion, purloined the brains from the Tin Man, and laid waste to the dreams of the majority of BCers.
That is not a party for change; that is a tea party.
See Abbotsford Times edition September 17, 2010 - Page A8 article entitled "Buy the numbers" exactly the same wording as Sept 18 article in Burnaby Now.....nice to have some one present the straight up facts. Need more of this from the Press - not the over-the-top Liberal bias that comes from the likes of Fletcher (Legislative Press Reporter for Black Press). Poor guy is only doing the job he's paid for -- but the blatant bias and glibness turns one off and is easily seen through.
I am beginning to think. Alberta has the best idea, the western provinces, should separate from the east. It is said, the western provinces, would be 40% better off. The west's taxes, would stay in the west. The BC HST goes, directly to Harper, BC people will not get any benefits from the HST...Because, BC is a province of natural resources. Campbell and Hansen, lied, deceived and cheated to win. Campbell isn't even a Liberal, he works for Harper. I quit buying newspapers, out of Vancouver and Victoria. There is now, no such thing as honest journalism. Those papers, are pathetically easy to see through. I also boycott some TV stations. We all must consider, how much these people are willing to sell their souls for. That includes, judges, BC Elections, the RCMP, the FOI. Don't forget, anyone opposing Campbell, gets a vendetta. We have seen that, more than once. And, as I say, souls are cheap in BC.
