Another bold Straight Goods headline....Many of you wonder how this site and me personally hasn`t had our asses sued off for making these statements, the reason is very simple, when you tell the truth those who you insult, those who you call liars have no recourse, all they can do is slither back under the rock from where they came...
Maybe you remember this, back in June of this year, the year 2013 the BC Taxpayers Federation created a British Columbia debt clock, at that time in June(5 months ago) the B.C. debt stood at over $57 billion dollars, that debt of course does not count BC Hydro`s $6 billion in deferred debt, that doesn`t include 10`s of $billions more in guaranteed energy buying contracts from IPP`s..That debt total doesn`t include BC Ferries $1.6 billion dollar debt, it doesn`t include the Port Mann bridge debt, doesn`t include PPP3 debt for hospitals, there is so much excluded from the BC Taxpayers Federation debt clock..
Yet even with all those exclusions their estimate of debt was over $57 billion dollars and rising to $69 billion by 2016..

Published Wednesday, June 26, 2013 3:43PM PDT
British Columbia’s government debt totals more than $57-billion and is
growing by $209 every second, according to the advocacy group the
Canadian Taxpayers Federation
"B.C. may be better off debt-wise than some other provinces, but the debt is growing by $18-million per day, the CTF calculated.
In the provincial election just one month ago, Premier Christy Clark campaigned on the slogan “debt-free B.C.”
“But the bottom line here is we’re still adding debt,” Bateman said.
According to CTF calculations, by 2016, it could reach $69-billion.
Bateman hopes the clock will get people to encourage their MLAs and the
newly re-elected premier to be serious about debt reduction and to stop
the clock.
The clock will make an appearance in Kelowna, where Clark is campaigning for a seat in the legislature in a July byelection."
_____________
Yet even the Canadain Taxpayers Federation`s debt numbers calculations are extremely low, Damien Gillis and Rafe Mair on video make it clear that British Columbia`s true debt stands at over $170 billion dollars, that makes B.C. the biggest debter province by percentage by far..
How Liberal Government is Bankrupting BC Hydro, Province
Click the below link, Damien Gillis explains BC`s real debt
___________
Socred Cabinet Minster Rafe Mair tells it like it is in this powerhouse speech on April 24 in Merritt,
at the outset of the BC election campaign. Mair minces no words,
zeroing in on the BC Liberals’ real economic record, which stands in
stark contrast to the one being presented by Christy Clark throughout
her campaign.
.
“Christy Clark has on the side of her bus, ‘Debt Free BC’. We
owe $171 Billion dollars! Since the Liberals came to power, our per
capita share of debt has gone from a little over $5,000 to $40,000 –
every man, woman and child…
Ask the folks in Greece or in Cyrpus or in
Italy what happens when the day of reckoning comes. And the day of
reckoning is going to come with this.”
_________
Ok, I believe Rafe`s numbers are correct, however, I am the first to concede that there are differences of opinion as to what the real debt tally is, however, there is no debate that BC`s debt is no less than $58 billion dollars, and that`s not counting crown corporation debt....To be clear..
What, you don`t believe, Rafe Mair, Damien Gillis, Jordn Bateman, how about Bob Mackin.
Read his tally on our debt.

Premier Clark lectures Americans on fiscal responsibility
By Bob Mackin
Published November 25, 2013 03:55 pm |
On the third day of the United States
government shutdown, Premier Christy Clark was in Washington, D.C. where
her speech to a prominent think tank said: "You can't spend more than
you take in; B.C. has been a leader on that front."
Clark's Oct. 3 speech at the Wilson
Center's Canada-U.S. Forum on Public-Private Partnerships boasted a
balanced British Columbia budget in 2013-2014 and a $446 million surplus
by 2015-2016, but it included no mention of the province's $62.5
billion debt forecast for this fiscal year.

What if I told you that on November 19th/2013..a mere few days ago Rich Coleman was asked that question at an LNG/energy conference by energy/LNG reporters...
Rich Coleman was asked this direct question, and I quote..
"Do you know what the B.C. provincial debt is now, off the top of your head?"
And Rich Coleman answered that question thusly, and I quote..(November 19th/2013)
"Our provincial debt would be around $40 billion, that would be all our sectors, you know, things like schools, hospitals, and our crown corporations and Government itself".....Rich Colemam November 19th/2013
_________
This LNG update and press conference featured no questions from Vaughn Palmer, Michael Smyth, Sean Leslie, no questions from Global news or CKNW, these were energy questions from voices I hadn`t heard before....These were international energy file reporters, and Rich Coleman lied his face off to them..
Rich Coleman was asked a question about how much we are receiving in natural gas royalties, he lied about that too.. Rich Coleman said "we receive on average $400 to $600 million"...Yet we received less than $200 million in the last reported year(actual number, $157 million) and records show that the next fiscal year after tax exemptions and credits British Columbia will receive $13 million dollars in natural gas royalties!..
______
In September, when the BC government tabled its First Quarterly Report on
the BC Budget the big story was on plummeting natural gas royalties,
which means cuts to public services in order to keep the budget balance
in check. As the update states on page 6:
The deterioration in natural gas royalty revenue is the main issue
that needs to be managed in order to balance the budget. … Government
will need to adopt revenue and/or expense measures as part of its
management strategy. … Immediate measures include a freeze on hiring
across the BC Public Service and a salary freeze for all public sector
excluded management staff, including those in Crown corporations and the
SUCH sector (schools, universities, colleges and health organizations).
This highlights the folly of relying on natural resource royalties to
fund core services like health care and education. For the 2012/13
year, expected natural gas royalties are a mere $157 million, 0.3% of
Budget revenues, and way down from the heady days of 2005/06 when gas
royalties brought in a record $1.9 billion to the Treasury.
This
shortfall comes even as BC experiences way higher production levels — in
2011, a record high total of 41.4 billion cubic metres, one-third
higher than 31.9 billion in 2005 (current data here and historical data here). Production in 2012 looks to land in the same territory as 2011 based on year-to-date estimates.
http://www.policynote.ca/bc-is-giving-away-its-natural-gas/
____________
Do you see that above, even though natural gas production in British Columbia is at all-time highs, revenues from this sector are at all-time lows...Rich Coleman is a liar, a bold faced, bald-faced liar, on the international stage when asked by reporters questions on debt, on royalties Rich Coleman lied his face off, and no media at the Vancouver Sun..At Global BC..at CKNW..at CTV bothered to report any of this..
Not a word from Keith Baldrey, he`s too busy counting his Twitter followers, Vaughn Palmer as
Norman Farrell clearly points out is too busy lying on the BC Ferry file..
__________
"I know the BC Liberals are little sensitive about this inequality. I
know because they had Sun writer Vaughn Palmer tweeting out talking
points that are supposed to provide justification. It's just a little
unfortunate the pundit didn't do his own research because the tweets
fell below his usual standard for accuracy. Examples:"
__________
Michael Smyth, nothing on Coleman`s lies, Palmer is silent, CKNW mute, Global BC`s lips, sealed, Bill Good covered with mustard and ketchup stains...
Les Leyne zippo, Sean Leslie not a whisper..Tom Fletcher playing golf..Black press missing in action..
The Straight Goods blog and Grant G.....Doing the job the mainstream media once did...
You can hear Rich Coleman`s lies on audio hear....Rich Coleman`s blatant and painfully obvious lies on our provincial debt come just after the 17 minute mark of the audio..

I can`t keep up with these sizzling articles and I only have to read them!!!
You rock Grant!
Thanks for that comment..
I have many more to write, you know..
I had no intention of writing anything today but then..
I listened to that audio from that LNG update presser, I heard the international energy reporters asking questions and poof!..There it was, RICH cOLEMAN DIDN`T BAT AN EYE, he lied with such ease..sl blatant, so obvious..
And if Adrian Dix or John Horgan lied on the international stage headlines would blaze across our daily newspaper and local radio and TV..
Palmer, Smyth, Good, Les Leyne, Baldrey, Global news, cknw, Vancouver sun, they don`t even care anymore..
No wonder the BC Liberals lie their face off...
They get a free pass, send some advertising dollars their way on all headaches vanish..
But don`t they realize, honest Governments spend money advertising too.
We have no more media in British Columbia..
Remember that Vancouver Sun/ The Province article from a few days ago..
An article that pointed out Rob Ford`s lies one by one..
"Rob Ford's unchecked lies to Peter Mansbridge"
http://www.theprovince.com/news/Ford+interview+with+Peter+Mansbridge+contained+lies+first/9184581/story.html
How come our British Columbia media never does that...
Too busy counting Government advertising and counting Twitter followers.
Cheers
With all due respect, I would like to suggest that the criminal complicity between the corporate media and the liberal government goes far beyond the profit motive of seeking to keep advertising dollars coming in on the local level.
There is a much larger plot afoot to steal, sell, or soil every public asset, and then to stick us rubes with the huge bills.
The provincial media shills are part of a larger international $indicate, They have taken the oath at their local lodges and pledged to a code of silence for their brothers. However, the marching orders come from on high, and the plan is global in its ambitions.
Consider the fact that actual ownership of BCRail was transferred, not to david maclean but to dark pools of funds run out of new york, dallas and london.
Much appreciation for all you do here.
Cheers

Enbridge going down right after Harper!
Grant, we have read your articles for several years now and we can honestly say that over time you have morphed into British Columbia`s best political writer-Bar None!
Nancy and CO
If Rob Ford grew his hair in he'd look much like Rich Coleman.
He doesn't lie as convincingly though.
John's Aghast
The Straight Goods, whoever named this site was bang on!!!
Coalman, Rich Coleman huffed and puffed and Grant G blew him away. Marvelicious!
I have an answer to Rich Coleman's tax/royalty negotiation with the gas companies over the LNG projects. All found, BC's debt, including P3's, BC Hydro, BC Ferries, etc. is close to $200 billion. Christy Clark promised during the election campaign, and the electorate believed her, that LNG will build BC a $100 billion prosperity fund. The royalty rate can be found by dividing $300 billion by the quantity of LNG to be sold and the answer is the royalty/tax rate to be charged. Negotiations finished!
Riddle me this: If the Budget is Balanced (as per Chrispy Clarke) how come the Debt Clock number keeps getting bigger and bigger?
Riddle me this..
Accounting laws were changed roughly a decade ago, the reason these accounting rules were changed worldwide was because of the accunulation of debt by Governments, rules were changed to make it easier for Government to hide debt..
In the decade of the 90`s the NDP had to report ALL DEBT...
BC Liberals, not so much..
Now theyseperate out debt..There`s long term debt..deferred debt..infrastructure debt(also called capital debt)..
Capital debt is not on that $58 billion dollar total, or contractual debt, either is BC Hydro`s growing debt, BC Ferries growing debt...
Just like Wallstreet created new financial instruments, just like most Canadian`s wallets(many many credit cards)..
BC Liberals also created new crown corporations to defer their debt...
Golden Ears brdge..Treo for the Port Mann bridge, these are indeed Government debt, yet it`s not counted on the Government books..
Our auditor General(past) John Doyle fought tooth and nail over the reporting of these debts, ..
Government spin doctors like Vaughn Palmer, John Winters, Sean Leslie, Keith count my Twitter followers Baldrey and their media employers provided cover..
Does that answer your question?
A repeat of my comment in this post

Funny stuff indeed..
I hardly ever tweet on twitter, however, I did tweet Keith Baldrey, I told him to check out Global BC`s facebook page..I told Keith Baldrey that their own viewers are calling the poll and story Global BC did on increased Enbridge support bullshit..
And guess what, Keith Baldrey had no courage to tweet me back publically, no, he`s a coward, he sent me two private messges..
Here they are..
____________
Keith Baldrey Keith Baldrey
@keithbaldrey
You have three whole followers! Wow!

________
And this one, after he insulted me with the three whole followers bulshit, I tweeted him back that I have thousands of blog followers and I don`t use twitter, my account is almost always shut, he sent me another private message..

Off your meds again?

Keith Baldrey calls himself a pro, he couldn`t debate facts so he lashes out and brags about his twitter followers and then throws in a drug insult based on ...Well, based on the fact he had nothing else in his arsenal.
Cheers
_____________
It is clear that Bill Good..Vaughn Palmer and Keith Baldrey are employed by the BC Liberals to downplay every scandal, paid to spin and promote the BC Liberal/Stephen Harper agenda..
Good Day
Grant you call some blog writers bootlickers for not writing about Stephen Harper scandals yet you aren`t writing about Justin Trudeau gaffes or Mulcair missteps, Why?
@anon 12:20pm...
First off, Justin Trudeau isn`t opposition leader, he`s the leader of a third party, he doesn`t make decisions that affect all of Canada, nor does Thomas Mulcair..
Ezra Levant has David Suzuki wet dreams every night, every day, Ezra Levant has a picture of David Suzuki in his shower, you get my gist..
David Suzuki is an environmental celebrity, just as Justin Bieber is a musical celebrity, ...They have no power...
As far as Justin Trudeau...He is a little unsteady on his feet, everything he says and does is put under a microscope, he has made gaffes..
However, I don`t believe Justin Trudeua is a hard-liner, meaning he can be persuaded by Canadians into making the right decision, even if his initial thinking is wrong..
I believe Justin Trudeau to be more honest..
Harper and the Cons are scared shitless of Trudeau, rightfully so..
As stated here long ago, Trudeau will be prime minister..
And I`m supporting Mulcair and the NDP...They deserve a shot to Govern Federally..
Calling Trudeau Demon spawn or a shiny pony at this time, 20 months away from an election is..
Childish.
As are some rightwing bloggers, CHILDISH!
Good Day
I have a different take on Justin. I see him as week minded and not a leader. He will easily be manipulated by the same back room players that have controlled the Liberal Party for 20 years.
I feel mad that the Liberals chose such a weak and inexperienced candidate as it will affect me too.
Let Us Try Again.
