John Horgan, A Cut Above the Rest

originally posted Jan 10th/2011

Well well well, the big gun is throwing his hat in the ring tonight, perhaps our island readers will want to join his rally....The place..7:00 pm in Langford...

For those not familiar with John, he is the current energy critic for the NDP, nobody knows more about what is going on with run of river than Horgan, buy high and sell low, our rivers, our water, our salmon and now private interests control  these resources and were subsidizing it, from conversations and interviews done by Horgan, he knows this file, no one in the media is talking about residential hydro rates, home owners paying $3 $5 $6 thousand dollars per year on hydro, Horgan is aware that Campbell`s energy plan is so flawed that the net result is taxation through Hydro rates, a two tier formula that nails every home owner and the proposed smart meters, 2 $billion dollars for meters that tell you your using power...That same money could generate power, a lot of power, that is if we needed power....

There is no one more on top of that file than Horgan, ........I have been watching the legislature for years, after a while you get to know MLAs on both sides of the house, who is friendly, who is smart, who is partisan, who lies, who tells the truth and more importantly, who is the Alpha male, who walks the walk.

In estimate debates Horgan ran at Blair leckstrom to the point that Blair Leckstrom resigned, that`s right folks, Leckstrom was Horgan`s guy in estimate debates, many say Leckstrom quit because of the HST and deficit lie, the truth be known Leckstrom quit over the clean energy act, Blair Leckstrom was very unsettled during estimate debates, Horgan pounded on Leckstrom.....

Horgan is quick on his feet and is by far the best public speaker in the NDP caucus, John doesn`t harp or whine, he lays out the facts, makes his point and moves on, he also adds sly sideways humour, in other words Horgan can make mincemeat of his opponent crack a joke while easily  being three steps ahead of the competition...

Some people are talking about Adrian Dix, Farnsworth, even Raulston.....All three of those men are talented, Farnsworth is made to be house leader, a bull in a China shop, the problem with Farnsworth is, he can`t speak onTV or radio without using the words eerrr and ummm...He pauses and delays and can`t think fast enough on his feet, Farnsworth was also a little too close to some skeletons with Glen Clark...Even me, it pains me to listen to Mike Farnsworth.....

Adrian Dix, a good speaker although he is very fidgety, Dix is born to be health minister and again, the BC Liberals will punish Adrian Dix to no end over that memo he altered in the 90s, we don`t need those distractions, there is also rumour that Bruce Raulston might toss his hat in the ring, ....No offense friends, Raulston is milky white soggy toast, even his emails are soggy, Raulston has about as much appeal as a bad rash, Raulston would make Carole James look exciting, Sorry Bruce, I have been watching you for years and you as boring as ever.

All I can add is, John Horgan scares the hell out of the BC Liberals, Horgan is respected by both sides in the house, Horgan would make a fantastic leader, he`s honest, responds to my calls and emails, he knows what is really important to BCers...

I`ll have more on John Horgan a little later....

I've watched the legislature too and I also feel Horgan is a great leader.
Now,those hydro rates. That two tier system is absolute bull$hit. Unbelievable how our bill went up and continues too. Yes, the lieberals have cost us all way too much money in their ponzi schemes and rewarding their friends. We must all get involved to get rid of them.

Sure can't get anything from our "mainstream" media. The contempt they show for the citizens of this province is unforgiveable.

Keep up the good work and keep on posting. Yours, as well as Mary's, Laila's and many others is where we get the real stories and the contempt that this government is hoisting on the citizens. Not globall, ctv, the province, times, sun, or others.

A great call. Horgan would make a splendid leader, and would clean up the mess left by gordo the impaler. He would call for a complete look at the BC Rail / Virk Basi payoff. I believe he would help sweep the lieberals off the map, and they know that!

Grant, guess what 'international' Ponzi company is supplying those overpriced and un-needed 'smart' water (and gas) remote read meters?

Bingo! Macquarie.

Just another dirty not so little deal from our knuckle dragging premier.

Now that Hulk Horgan has joined the NDP race, tThe NDP renewal is definitely going somewhere.

The Hulk has the BCLib's and its wholly owned PAB/MSM pundits like terrified.

I still remember the can of whoop ass Hulk Horgan opened up on Mike Smyth one day on air.

Smyth is still smarting from the beating he took and is calling him bad tempered and a blowhard Leftie.

The name "Hulk Horgan" alone is worth 10% in the polls to the low information BC voter and the bad temper is just the ticket as it channels the anger the BC voter is directing at the BCLiberal party.

He will eat any BCLib leader or PAB/MSM pundit for breakfast and they are terrified.

They should put a stop to the meters NOW! It's a complete ripoff of the citizens of this province to Campbull's buddies, McQuarrie. Yet again their name comes up. Boy there should be investigations involving all government entities and what has been awarded/given to McQuarrie, (Laila has started digging already and it isn't good) and then cancel all those "special" contracts!
Shame on this government, yet again. Their never arrogance and spite for the citizens of this province never ceases to amaze me.

Good tidings indeed. I too heard, Horgan is respected by the entire Legislature. Campbell has cause so much destruction, to the province and the people, we will be 40 years, trying to clean BC up. Campbell awards only those, who are as corrupt as he is. Campbell is all about corruption and greed, what he can put in his own pocket, and his business friends pockets. His theft of the BCR, and the theft of our rivers, clearly proves the point. Hopefully, Campbell's next abode, will be prison. Treason, grand larceny and corruption, are three dammed good reasons.

Apparently MacQuarie will likely be the group that supplies all the red light cameras at intersections in BC that require them too. Imagine that. Looks like it may have paid in spades to sell their share of the S2S highway concession business. Are we surprised?

An aside, according to Alex, Basi/Virk special prosecutor is heading into court today (along with those involved) to demand all evidence back post haste. According to other articles (some in MSM) this was supposed to happen tomorrow! Hmmmm...nothing like going to court on "the day"...and finding out you're a day late and a dollar short is there? Who knows? Maybe that was the plan?

Last, but definitely not least, I am HAPPY to see John Horgan in the ring. If he's da man, NDP gets my vote, my time, and my energy next election.

HURRAH!!! Victory #1, more to come....

I'll be rejoining the NDP tonight and donating.
Moe the Foe must GO. Hope they will be protecting the leadership ballot box.

CTV tonight only flashed cameras on John Horgan for a second with his lips moving and of course, muted. I had just said, they won't let this guy say a word, watch this. They're scared, very scared. Cowards.

Public enemy #1 Mainstream Media,
tied for #1 Campbell and his B.C. Liberal mob.

GO GET 'EM HORGAN...

Thanks, Grant

It's amazing that after the worst financial and political record of any Premier in Canadian history, Erin Chutter was on the CBC this morning talking about how the Liberals would be challenging the NDP on their poor 1990's financial record. What a clown!

CHEK News out of Victoria tonight was critisizing Mr Horgan for announcing his intentions to run for leadership of NDP tonight. They seem to think that it is ridiculous timing, missing the evening news all across BC and losing coverage of it. AS if they cannot report it on their later broadcasts and tomorrow never seemed to cross their minds. I really could not understand this reaction but it seemed a forced negative on their part of Mr. Horgan. As for him missing the news, they were talking about him anyway! Maybe they should loosen those ties and let the blood flow north.

The issues are a lot more complicated than power rates.

The NDP needs a fresh beginning internally. I have to wonder whether Mr. Horgan as a long term insider has the perspective or the will to deal with it. Ugly comments made by Mr. Horgan about dissident MLAs do not help his case.

A key to NDP electoral success, and to a renewal of democracy in the NDP, will be the implementation of Sustainable BC (approved by convention in 2007) as the foundation of the NDP's policy development and election platform. Energy issues, like everything else, must be dealt with in that context.

My support will go to the leadership candidate who performs best in those areas.

You admiringly described Mr. Horgan as an alpha male. Perhaps you were careless in your terminology.

"Alpha male" is a term that originated in studies of animal behaviour. Alpha males are not democrats. They win by beating the crap out of everyone else. Who in their right mind would vote for one to lead a supposedly democratic political party?

I think it's time for us as humans to have higher expectations of ouselves.
