Mike De Jong Gets Roasted and Toasted by Michael Smyth!(UPDATED)

Well well well, boy O boy are things heating up, as predicted, or more aptly, as suggested by Alise Mills the potential BC Liberal leaders are promising a limited public inquiry into BC Rail.......

No matter what they do, all the squirming, the denials, the obfuscation, none of the BC Liberals can shake the stench, it follows all leaders around like a shadow, the ex-mayor of Parkesville has thrown his hat in the ring, what a useless slug, he claims that he hasn`t seen any of the evidence but when he does if he sees anything ill towards he will call for a limited inquiry, the fact that he CLAIMS not to have seen or heard anything and has no opinion on BC Rail rules him out, where has been, how deep in the sand has he buried his head!.....

George Abbott was on with Bill Good, what a funny(ha ha) segment, Abbott wants a limited review of the defense legal fees being paid too,  Kevin Falcon in tandem will one up Abbott and will echo the call for an inquiry, in other words, Christy Clark is being put in the electric chair.....Back to Billy good and his interview with Abbott, Bill Good took umbrage with a caller who said the trial was a farce, Bill good jumped out of his chair and wailed...."There was a complete trial, the special prosecutor saw every piece of evidence"....When the caller bitched back he was quickly shuffled away.....

News flash Billy Good, there was no trial, 1 1/2 witness out of 40 scheduled witnesses does not make a trial, Bill Good....You are one BC Liberal stooge deserving of a bar of soap jammed in your mouth for lying!

Now where was I.....Michael Smyth in the 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm, January 4th segment grilled Mike De Jong  .....And what a segment, De Jong was weaving and bobbing and.......And you wont believe this, De Jong is now blaming the settlement to Basi and Virk`s legal team, the $6million dollar settlement, Mike De Jong kept saying....

`The settlement was the result of the NDP Government policy in the 90s`snip.....De Jong also stated that he, before he left the Attorney General`s office to run for leader of the BC Liberals he ordered a review of the NDP policy of the 90s......

OK folks, here`s the deal, Mike De Jong who was feeling the heat from Smyth kept deferring to the NDP policy of the 90s for blame....The public has no idea what the policy is regarding representatives of Government being charged with crimes, so what De Jong was doing was trying to deflect the reason for killing the trial and paying a massive defense legal fee on the NDP......And what happened next was.....

Michael Smyth laid the hammer down on Mike De Jong and explained that the NDP policy of the 90s, the same policy De Jong was clinging too.....Michael Smyth said....

``The NDP policy is...If Government employees are convicted of crimes they lose their legal fee indemnity``

In other words, and Mike Smyth used this example, When the BC Liberals took Glen Clark to court, if Clark was found guilty he would have to pay for his own legal fees, when Basi and Virk plead guilty they lose their indemnity for legal costs.....

So there`s the deal, Mike De Jong has officially ended his chances for leader, De Jong also blamed the NDP for the legal settlement that HE agreed to..... When the NDP policy of the 90s  clearly states that guilty Government employees have to pay their own legal fees....

So here we have De Jong saying he has launched a review into a policy that he broke, and he had the jam to try and fake it on air....Well thank goodness Michael Smyth slammed De Jong right out of the leadership race!

So here comes the BC Rail avalanche, Falcon, Abbott, De Jong.....What will Christy Cluck Cluck Clark do....Where will you hide....What rock will Mike De Jong slither under....What size Falcon poop will drop on the Crusty Clark train....

Updated here....Friends, I truly believe we have turned a major corner.....John Macolm just laid out a impassioned speech on his CKNW show demanding a full BC Rail inquiry, Macolm dragged Christy Clark through the mud, Macolm when on to say....The people of BC demand an answer, no new Liberal leader can enter the office until they prove clean hands......A must listen to folks......Enjoy the listen BC Mary!  Cue up the cknw audio vault, January 4th/ 2011....Cue up 3:00 pm...Fast forward to 3:09 pm and listen through to 3:52 pm

Tune in next week for another episode of....

As the stomach turns

The Straight Goods

Grant,I just listened to the segment of De Jong on CKNW.What a lying SOB.You are absolutely rigtht, he is toast as a legitamite candidate for the leadership of the Lieberal Party. It is inconceivable that anyone would vote for him.Actually, it was quit enjoyable listening to the bastard squirm trying to validate himself from the obvious truth he wanted to avoid.RECALL THE P...K NOW!

That was a punchy piece. I liked it.

Now that you've made it clear for us-all to see, i'm thinking we can probably stick a fork in de Jong. Because--yep, he's done.

And all it took was..., well,...a writer who cares alot, and another journalist to do his job by turning up the heat to a proper temperature.

Good for Michael Smyth to stretch out that cerebral cortex of his, recalling one important fact about the terms of indemnity offered, and not offered, by government. what's more, he used that little thought of his to add this most important piece of information at precisely the right time, thereby righting the keel of a discussion on the bridge of the ship of fools, as it goes careening into troubled waters with the likes of de Jong threatening to take the helm.

I mean, as a basic principle for guiding the conduct of those holding public office, it's simple: If you break the rules, then get caught and plead guilty in court; then, we, the people, do NOT pay for your legal expenses--you, the guilty party have to pay. That's the price of doing the crime. That's the moral hazard that must be borne by all persons conducting the affairs of the state.

This is a line of utmost importance in defining the common good. It is one beyond which no state must cross.

Criminality in the affairs of our state must never be officially compensated; because the cost will be a loss of legitimacy both in government and the judiciary. To ignore this wisdom of the ages is to act in a manner both craven and grave.

Where there is no justice in the centre of the state itself, there can be no sound society surrounding it--at least, not one that goes well for long.

de Jong surely knows of the perils in paying confessed criminals. What he is doing...is not denying there are dangers in this course; but rather, he is trying to dodge and shift the blame onto someone else--namely, onto Berardino, the so-called special prosecutor.

By throwing Billy B over-board like this, de Jong is attempting to lighten his load and avoid getting caught in the storm himself. He's tacking away as if his entire future depended on not going anywhere near those dark clouds on the horizon.

In an interview de Jong did @ the province (http://www.theprovince.com/Abbott+Jong+trade+barbs+over+Rail+Liberal+campaign+heats/4058618/story.html),

Kent Spencer reported this:

"De Jong admitted he was uncomfortable with the payout but drew a line between his role as Attorney General and the crown prosecutors who approved the deal.

'I have no qualms acknowledging the special prosecutors’ decision caused me concerns,' he (de Jong) said.

"De Jong said he would never support interference by politicians in the judicial process, if that’s what Abbott was suggesting."

Obviously, de Jong's comments above raise another question:

Did Berardino, himself, initiate the settlement--? Does the buck in fact stop with Billy B--?

Not from what i understand. Not acting alone, anyway. Not when the $6m to cover Bazi's expenses had to come from the provincial government accounts, with the approval of the deputy finance minister, Graham Whitmarsh, and surely not without the approval of the deputy attorney general, Alan Seckel.

I see it as a sort of administrative devil's triangle--Berardino, Seckel, and Whitmarsh--where sensitive trials go to sink and disappear forever.

T'is a glaring example of how representative democracy has been by undermined and subjugated by an un-holy alliance of carefully-hidden unelected technocrats, and mealy, unaccountable politcos, and shady monopoly kapitalists.

It is doubtless that we are being lead down the road to tyranny and serfdom, unless we take the wheel and throw it into reverse sometime soon.

I'm having trouble getting the CKNW audio vault to play. This is unusual, as I've listened before when you've directed us readers there.
Curious.

Hi Grant...thanks for checking...I'm still not getting anywhere with the vault. Could be beyond my technical abilities (I recently installed quicktime for use with an itouch...this could be getting in the way?...haha...not sure). Anyway, thanks for your great work summarizing things, and again, thanks for looking into the vault.
Keep up with your perseverance with ALL topics - it's so greatly appreciated!

Forgot to add Loukidelis into the mix...

For, according to von Poncer: "Whitmarsh, acting on the recommendation of Loukidelis, signed off on all the paper work."

As well, we find Whitmarsh had been a working associate of the former Finance Minister, who was next in the docket awaiting his turn on the stand--to clear things, we can only presume.

Why, surely, this puts Whitmarsh in a CONFLICT OF INTEREST, thus joining him to a whole band of merry bandits who served venal private interests in obvious breach of their fiduciary responsibility to act on behalf of the best interests of the people who live in this presenting province.

If i'm not mistaken, Grant, i think you meant to write 1:00 pm, where you wrote, "...Cue up 3:00 pm...".

Grant G said...

John Ghun...Nope, not mistaken...There are three segments...Before noon with Bill Good and George Abbott...

1:00pm to 1:30 pm for Michael Smyth grilling De Jong.....

And 3:00pm to 3:49 pm...With John Macolm...

John Macolm hammered Christy clark and the BC Liberals...

A must listen....I hope that clears up the confusion.

Cheers

Kudos to Michael Smythe for an incredible interview.

Smythe: "The problem is it looks politically convenient to hut down a criminal trial that was going to cause the Liberal party a lot of political damage, right? That's what looks politically convenient, and that's what people are concerned about."

De Jong: "Are you, are you suggesting that someone did that?"

Smythe: "I'm suggesting that there is an appearance that the trial was shut down because you guys were going to pay $6 million to these guys' lawyers."

De Jong: "OK, well then let's not talk about appearances, Mike, let's talk about what happened. And let's talk about a role played by an independent prosecutor, who by the way, I've never met, never spoken with, so you know I get why people were angry. An eight-year criminal investigation and trial that led to the criminal conviction of two people for the worst possible breeches of the public trust. No one should be happy about any of that."

Smythe: "Yeah, the worst possible breeches of the public trust and we give their lawyers six million bucks. They're set for life."

De Jong: "Pursuant to a policy Mike that was established in the 1990s."

Smythe: "Well hang on a minute, because the policy as far as I know said that you are indemnified for your lawyer unless you're guilty. I remember when Glen Clark had his house searched, and the government of the day said 'Hey we'll pay for Glen Clark's lawyer unless he's guilty, then we want the money back', right?

De Jong: "Right."

Smythe: "That's the policy. Here we have a situation where these guys plead guilty to these very serious crimes - corruption crimes - and their lawyers are set for life. They're laughing all the way to the bank."

De Jong: "Yes, and you're point, Mike?"

Thanks Grant for your blog and especially your comments on education and poverty. I'm an elementary teacher in Mission whose students by and large are from low income (poverty) families. We've lost nearly all our teacher aids and services for special needs students over the past few years do to a lack of funding by these crooks.Randy Hawes has publicly voiced his preference for private schools over public. These bastards don't care if they condemn a whole generation just so they and their friends get richer.I'm off work right now recovering from an operation but I wish these bastards could actually come to work with me just for one day to see what damage they continue to inflict on the most vulnerable of us.

What is going to happen. The Liberals have filed to obtain all of the papers from, Campbell's corrupt sale of the BCR? BC citizens, want a full inquiry, not a restricted investigation. If the Liberals, get hold of all of the documents, for sure Campbell will shred them. We have seen the lengths the Liberals will go, to stop the recall, and to keep the HST. Right down to stalking canvassers. Physically attacking bloggers. Never in my life, have I ever saw, a more dirty, corrupt outfit, as Campbell and the BC Liberals. BC people all know, Campbell belongs in prison, and so does De Jong, for thieving tax payers dollars. Never again, must we ever allow, what has been done to the province and the BC children. We need the BC Liberal party, run the hell our of our province.

Campbell keeps on destroying our children's education, by squeezing the funding. He is purposely doing so, to force private schools to open. He will squeeze as many children into, as few public schools, as he can get away with. He doesn't give a dam about our children and their special needs. He doesn't give a dam for anyone, other than big business and his wealthy friends. We have watched him steal everything he has laid his hands on. Campbell is full of, hate, spite, malice, and is so vindictive, his sanity is suspect. His henchmen are just as rotten as he is. They supported the evil b.....d.

Mike Smyth made mincemeat out of CC today (12:35 to 1:00) AND John McComb had AGT on today disputing what CC said during her interview with Smitty (3:35 - 3:45).

Check it out.

Grant G said...

I heard it...Christy Cluck cluck Clark might as well bow out now..She bobbed, weaved, deflected..

Every caller, including 3:30 to 3:50 with Macolm bashed Christy Clark...

She can run, but she can`t hide....Bill Good and Pamela Martin have totally disgraced themselves...

And lastly, after Smyth beat Christy Clark like a "rented mule",She begged for listeners to join the BC Liberals and vote for her.?

Desperate and pathetic...The funny thing is..

Christy will lose the leadership, and her radio gig..

Too funny!

Wow, Smitty ripped De-Jong a new one in that segment. It sounded pretty pathetic listening to De-Jong responding with many words but little substance.

The best part was him saying "I know people are frustrated and angry (about the defense pay out), I feel the same way" and Smitty replying with "......, you approved it.".

Christy Clark running for premier is the best thing that has happened to the CKNW programming in years. Now we have Michael Smyth ripping people left and right when they try the BS routine.
