Can`t You See

Lately my tone has been angry, testy, quick to snipe back at any and all retractors, yet I can`t help but feel  warm confident and content, I have no explanation as to why, all I can say is....I can see it, never have I felt more in tune with the people, with British Columbia...

I was a little rough on Ian Reid, Norman Farrell and David Schrek, let me try this one more time, Schrek can make financial numbers sing but reading public sentiment is woefully lacking, Reid speaks from the heart and that is his real problem, sometimes you have to think like Spock and park your emotions, some never let go,  Farrell is a very talented word smith and researcher although I believe he is easily distracted and a little too gullible....

The letter to the editor about Nicholas Simons, the slagging of Harry Lali, the cheap shots directed at Nicholas Simons.....A nasty letter calling Simons a Judas, a undemocratic vulture and vowing to help unseat Simons from leadership and the riding, there was nothing else, the letter wasn`t about Simons ignoring a constituent, being unavailable, it was nothing but a cheap rant loaded with morality and rhetoric and devoid of substance, the Powell River Peak should be ashamed of printing the letter.....

How many letters of real substance have been written to editors, to watchdog groups, to ministries, how many parents, teachers, injured workers, health care workers, BC Rail fans, victims of crime or natural disaster, or Cambie street merchants, how many threatening letters, heartfelt pleas for help from Government, how many letters have been written on Gordon Campbell....Kevin Falcon...Christy Clark when she was education minister, Mary Polak, George Abbott, De Jong....

I can tell you in the case of Gordon Campbell it`s in the hundreds of thousands of angry letters, the others mentioned are in the thousands, yet some angry local writes a nasty rant against Simons, why?, Because he along with most of BC wanted Carole James out?...Is that the reason, Carole James should have resigned on her own after the 2009 election loss.....

Did you hear the news, BC lost 22,500 jobs last month, how do we lose that many jobs during the holidays, that`s when retail hires, kids were back in school months ago, expect another giant swath of job losses next month too, the HST,...Mr. Mintz, that`s exactly what he ORIGINALLY PREDICTED when he studied the HST, Jack Mintz predicted job losses, he was right, you remember flip flop Mintz, for $12 K he`ll write whatever you want, just like Marc Jaccard.....What about the Olympic bounce we were supposed to get?......

John Winters was on with Bill Good today promoting the HST, yesterday cknw advertised the segment as...Tomorrow Mr. Winters of the chamber of commerce will be here to tell us what items have gone down in price because of the hst....

Yet today, Winters couldn`t cite one example, Winters stated we need more time, he went on to say that things are looking similar to what happened in Atlantic Canada when they adopted the HST,......Well well well, Mr. Winters, Atlantic Canada had their tax rate lowered from 19% to 15%....The comparison is bunk, apples to oranges...

The point I am making is...The HST is a fraud, the HST is nothing but a consumer hit for BC, we have no manufacturing here, clothes, electronics, everything is imported, the prices can`t drop, the only real beneficiaries are to big corporate exporters, more money for shareholders, pennies to the big boys but a huge burden to families and the middle class...

Mr. Winters said..."We will have to wait until at least September or longer before we see prices fall" snip

Imagine that, Winters is objecting to moving the referendum up to June because he claims prices will not have had a chance to fall by then....How Mr. Winters could say that without bursting into laughter is beyond me, lie after lie, 10 years of lies yet.....

!0 years of lies and corruption from Gordon Campbell and the BC Liberals and Norman Farrell`s childhood friend writes a nasty rant letter to the editor complaining about the heathen beast and Judas Nicholas Simons!

Simons didn`t sell BC Rail, crank up hydro and ferry rates, Harry Lali didn`t lie about the Olympic security costs, Lali  didn`t tear up the HEU contract, neither of the bakers dozen did any of those things, Simons didn`t close 180 schools, close hospitals, shit on seniors, corrupt WCB, Lali didn`t steal from ICBC or sell out our tax authority to the Federal Government, Simons didn`t slash funding to special Olympics and for the autistic while at the same time spending $900 million dollars on a roof, the list goes on and on and as for letters to the editors, tens of thousands of letters from threats to pleas to parents begging on behalf of their children have littered the in-boxes of the Campbell Liberal Government only to fall on deaf ears and closed minds and Farrell wants to highlight a rant letter against a popular MLA who has done nothing but fight for the betterment of children and the Province.....

Can`t you see, can`t all of you see the Liberal leaders squirming, hiding, running from their record, there isn`t one BC Liberal leader in this race who can win a general election against even the weakest of the NDP leaders, they might as well wear paper bags over their heads at their next convention, they`re all the same, corrupt liars with skeletons in their closet, in their trunk, in their suitcases, shadows and a rancid stench follows all of them...

Can`t you see, the media is planting false thought in your heads, the media reality is not that of real life, the public want change, they want Liberals gone, the NDP still have a 25% lead over the Liberals, one honest voice speaking will trump every Liberal lie.

And with that I apologize for offending fellow bloggers but with whining old men like Norm gullible Farrell, I won`t relent......

You're right Grant. Like the hockey team has shown us, if we take our eyes off the prize when we are oh so close to winning it all, we end up playing the blame game, shooting at the wrong net and losing it all.
You and Mary and Bill and Laila and Rafe and Norm and Alex too have gotten us so close to the cup we can almost taste it.
Time to take a deep breath, refocus, join forces and deliver the 'coup de grace'.
A few of us may have hit the wrong notes but the tune hasn't changed.
You guys will go down-in history for what you are about to accomplish!

"If your against recall you're against democracy"

They have lied to us folks and the proof is now out. Have you had enough yet?

Grant, Harvey Oberfeld has done a piece on this as well. Both yours and his tell it very well.

For me, I say it's time for the masses to get off their asses. Waiting for any politicians to do anything is a lost cause. Get out and volunteer or just get out and vote to recall the lying MLA's.

By the way Grant, I likje the new format.

Very amusing to listen to cutting edge today, typical liberal ass kissing by the true masters, they can`t stop slagging anyone who wanted carol james gone, they are just scared shitless of what`s a comin their way. lol

Grant, the new format rocks, and fortunately the fiery prose is just as passionate and aligned with reality and truth.

I like the new format too...easy to read!!!
Thank you for all the passion and truth in your articles. Also thank you to all the others for keeping 'flames burning' on BC Rail trial. Thanks Laila, Ross, Norm, Bill, Harvey, Paul, Ross, Koot, Sean, Alex T. Your research and disclosures are much appreciated.

So much in this province has been corrupted. (Presently reading news articles about criminals in our casinos - yet, government disbanded the special police unit that was investigating these 'goings on'.) Why??

Has anyone read Matt Talibi (at Rolling Stone Magazines) article "The Looting of Main Street by Wall Street" (unsure of the title). Basically U.S. Municipalities and Counties are bankrupt because of 'financial dealings' with Wall Street to cover sewage systems and the like. Crooked public officials and bankers orchestrated deals whereby a $200 million project ends up costing billions. Soon people that worked for municipalities lost their, jobs, Municipalities couldn't afford to provide services, court houses closed, sewer bills sky rocketed and many lost their homes. They began living in 'third world' America. It's a heartbreaking story. We too could face some such reality with what is happening with IPP's, P'3 infrastructure projects and the like. The costs are hidden from us. Matt Talibi is one fine investigative reporter - digs deep and wide.

The problem is the NDP are NOT a legitimate alternative who would govern any better than this lot.
And that sadly is the truth which frustrates and infuriates the average 'thinking' voter.
We have NO legitimate options in this province and for that matter in the country.

Grant G said...

Jim T...Not to be critical but...

What good is that comment..A give up comment..

Seems you would rather let the known criminals Govern rather than vote for another party..

What did the NDP do while Governing in the 90s?

A deck on a house?

A budget fudget out by $200 million dollars...

The Liberals were fudget budget out by $3.5 billion dollars..

The NDP didn`t sell rivers, our Railway, our assets, our forests...

The NDP didn`t shred contracts and make gag laws...

Go ahead Mr. Jim Taylor...Vote BC Liberal, Vote no one...Capitulate and vanish.......

I have no time for cheer leading the already defeated.

Geez Grant, I have spent the morning mulling over these P3 deals that Gordo has us committed to for a generation or more, and the actual costs don't even show up on the books, and the companies that 'finance' the schemes with our own money and our pension funds, are no better than loan sharks or ponzi schemers. Couple that with his hydro schemes and other pieces of crap, I can't help but come to the conclusion that this province and us in it are FUBAR.
I think we need to gather forces and stage a peasant revolt. We have little left to lose.

Elwood said...

Grant, I didn't know that the NDP were ahead by 25%. That's awesome!

BTW, do you know, through your sources, when John will enter the race? Next week perhaps?

Grant G said...

Elwood....John Horgan is entering the race Monday Morning..

So is Farnworth and I hear Nicholas may be throwing his support behind Farnworth.

jaydee said...

Good news about the 25%, bad news for me about Farnworth, wouldn't vote for him or Dix. What will that do for Horgan if Simons backs Farnworth. Up, down, good news, bad news.
I have my doubts if I will vote NDP as long as Moe is controlling the party and if Horgan is not the new leader. I have been looking at B.C. Refed, if you have time what do you think of them?

If I may Grant, there is an excellent show on right now on Channel 49 OLN in my area in Surrey. It is Jesse Ventura on going green and 'global warming' and the plot to take over the world. It really brings everything home.

Great post and love your new format. Thanks again.

Grant G said...

Jaydee...Simons isn`t backing anyone but himself, he just entered the race...Eventually, down the road some MLAs may back one candidate or another...But it`s way to early to worry about that..

Have faith...Horgan rocks, once the public discovers Horgan....

Game over for BC Liberals.

You don't seem to be very creative. Why do you think that a REAL alternative could not come out of the ashes of the current system?
I have not given up on the system, I am saying that neither of the current parties offer ANY REAL alternatives.
So, why not come up with something new?
Get outside the current 'box', if you haven't noticed it is a coffin.

Jim Taylor said...

Oooopppsss I didn't realized I had fallen into an NDP cheering party.
No wonder no one is looking for REAL CHANGE.
Neither the LIBS or the NDP can change anything.

Grant G said...

I`m not creative...And your comments are?

Mr. Taylor...in case you haven`t noticed I tore down Carole James and the NDP..

The party that emerges will be strong and Government..

Like I said..Vote for whoever you like..Vote BC Refed party..Sal Vetro and the BC First party...

Vote independent....Vote for whoever you want...

And when you have something worth while saying I will post it...

Until then....Your give up and capitulate attitude does nothing....Promote your team, build a site, gather some readers and be creative.....

If my posts are too boring, not creative, bad grammatically, oh well, I try....

BC Refed is broke and BC First only has 21 constituency associations put together. Former Refed leader Mike Summers has issued a press release saying he has resigned from the party, because they are broke and they can't break through the media wall, and because realistically th only way to stop the Lieberals from winning another election is to vote NDP.

Love the new format Grant, it's very readable and, well, you, personality wise. I had a facebook status update from Horgan friday, really funny, "I went to a luncheon today and announced that I would not be having dessert". Very good man, very good sense of humour. I'd be interested to know where you got that Monday announcement tip.

I'm working on Nicholas' campaign and I sure haven't heard anything about him backing Farnworth! Nicholas is serious about his own leadership race and wants to get good policy discussion out there - it was great to hear him today at 3:30 pm on Sean Leslie's NW show and on Bill Good on Thursday at 8:35 pm. It was a little unorthodox to launch his leadership bid on youtube but it was one way of getting around the barriers of some of the boys in the leg!
Of course it is easier for elected MLA's to be credible media sources, and it will be refreshing to hear their voices not filtered through a central spin doctor!

JIM TAYLOR,Has some good points but he misses the main one.
We are most unlikely to have a radical change in BC Politics during the next election.
For example; what chances do either the Greens or Conservatives have? NONE..
Like them or not we need (desperately) to have an NDP Government.
From that point we can only hope for further changes such as proportional representation ,more open Government etc.
IF the NDP runs on the promise of a INDEPENDENT inquiry into BC Rail , BC Ferries,BC Hydro,to name but few then who could not vote for them?
As of now all we can wish for is that the recall campaign in Oak Bay will resurrect some confidence in the political system.
If this initiative fails & to add insult to injury the NDP fails to reconcile we are doomed to many more years of globalised subjection ,higher taxes & less freedoms of speach.
JIM; much as I disagree with the moderator ,he is correct on this one.

Grant, did you check out the latest SCE Robbins poll? Here are the results -

BC First - 32.7%
NDP - 27.1%
LIEberal - 18.6%

I was shocked when I found this out.

If you think the NDP are anymore adept than anyone else, I don't think you have been paying attention.
What in the world is going to change because of wasting time investigating the LIBS nonsense anymore than it makes sense rehashing the fast cats or bingo gate??
There is NO ONE one the provincial scene that is offering anything even approaching the kind of direction it will take to keep this province from disaster over the next decade.
The province and in fact the globe has still not missed the bomb we have created with never ending spending of funds we do not have, and the NDP offer nothing on that front except the same old, same old.
Truth is our politicians do actually very little leading, they mostly follow world forces completely beyond their control.

Oh geez Jim Taylor, thanks for your optimism. It seems to me that the never ending spending that is going on is the subsidies to big biz. Feed the rich has been going on since Campbell was elected and has shown to be a disastrous policy. I say stop giving tax breaks to the already wealthy and start to support government services. Oh and increase their taxes as well. The rich don't need help, quite stroking the bastards!

"Guite stroking the bastards" ????
I think the CUPE supported, overpaid civil service is every much a drain on the economy as concessions made to the fat cat business tycoons.
The civil service on average is being paid 38% more than their private sector counterparts. If you ignore that element of the deficit, you are indeed a true blue through and through NDP.
The NDP and the Liberals and the Conservatives are all dinosaurs who have long outlived their usefulness. They just don't have the good sense to find a tar pit to fall into.
You may think our provincial or federal politicians are leading, but if you can't see they are simply reacting to world forces well beyond anyone's control, you have been drinking the party Kool aid for too long!

Campbell and the BC Liberals, are for big business, and big business only. The HST was designed for big business. We all knew, the HST was a killer for the everyday people, seniors and the low income citizens. Campbell's election lie, the BCR wasn't for sale. His election lie, the HST wasn't on his and Hansen's radar. BC people need a leader, of honesty and practical common sense. A Premier, that puts the people and our province first. The problem is, we are stuck with the Liberals for two more years. There won't be much of a province left.

Anonymous said...

jaydee..I read about the same, as you did. Harper's preaching about, Global Governance. That it is the Bilderberg big business group, behind it all. Campbell did attend the Bilderberg meeting, in Spain and on our dollar. Then I read about, bill S-510 in the USA, that bans vegetable gardens and the saving of garden seeds. I thought it was all too far fetched, to be true. However, a WW11 veteran said, there has to be a reason, for the insanity in BC, Canada, and the entire world. He said, he was glad he was old, but worries for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Crankypants said...

I'd like to address something that has stuck in my craw for many years, but especially since Gordo and Hansen announced that we were being blessed with the HST.

The biggest argument brought forward by both of them is that they had to adopt the HST to compete with Ontario. My question is why are different provinces of the same country competing for businesses to situate themselves within their respective boundaries. Is Canada a country, or nothing more than a conglomerate of jurisdictions adopting a common flag for convenience?

As I see it, we, as individuals, profess to be Canadians, yet act as if our neighbouring province is nothing more than a foreign entity. Is playing one province or territory against the other the best way to promote Canada on a global scale? Not from where I sit. Why is having the lowest provincial income tax, provincial corporate tax or any other provincial tax considered to be a badge of honour by our various provincial governments? Are these competitions amongst our provincial jurisdictions for the betterment of the citizens of each province, Canada or our politicians' egos?

The way I look at things is that there is no upside to attract industry "A" or company "B" to situate their head office within any provincial jurisdiction by excusing them from paying their fair share of infrastructure, societal and other sundry costs. No matter where they choose to situate their head office, they will still place their storefronts in every community that they deem profitable.

It just seems to me that the thought processes of our governing bodies are much happier lauding the attraction of a business entity that must be subsidized by the lowly taxpayer, rather than doing the heavy lifting to entice said entity by the attributes this province offers. It is very easy to sell a dollar for a penny, but I think it is now the time to turn our pennies into dollars.

What happens, when there are not enough little guys working to pay for all of Campbell's corruption? BC is becoming another Greece or Ireland. We can't support any of our small business community. Thousands of BC citizens, are not left with enough money, to even buy the basics of life. BC has over 121,000 children living in poverty. We have children too hungry to do their school work. The Liberal ministers and mla's, have supported Campbell, even on such a cruel, sadistic crime as that. We will never forgive nor forget, the treachery of Campbell and the BC Liberals. The lies, deceit, thefts and his and Hansen's cheating to win, has revolted every decent person in this province. Campbell's thieving of our rivers, will push our hydro bills up to 55% more. He thieved our BCR, and fraudulently sold it. He was even stupid enough to flood the best farmland in Canada. To give the water, to the dirty tar sands. A Global shortage of food, and the idiot, floods farmland. As long as we have politicians, such as Campbell, Hansen and Harper, this country will never be safe from them. Campbell works for Harper, the BC Liberals, always will. How do we survive until 2013, with the BC Liberals?
