Gordon Campbell and Rich Coleman Give Green Light to Drink and Drive and Maim

Absoultely amazing folks, the Provincial Government under heavy pressure from the restaurant and bar industry slaughter the new drinking driving penalties!

2200 breathalyzers machines are being recalibrated to let impaired drivers go even if they blow over 0.5.....That`s right folks, the story also states that there will be no more 3 day suspensions handed out, the old 24 hour suspension is being reinstated!

What kind of moronic Government would backtrack away from .05...........Here we are going into the holiday season and there`s a headline story in the Vancouver sun stating .05 is out, 3 days suspensions are out and every breathalyzer machine in the Province is being recalibrated to not register a reading below .06.....

My Gawd folks, what kind of message does that send, even the old rules on drinking driving issued a 24 hour roadside suspension for blowing .05.........The .05  ......24 suspensuion is now gone!

So not only has the Provincial Government flip-flopped on their new drinking driving penalties but they have actually made the law weaker then before the tougher penalties were imposed...A step backwards!

That`s right folks, Gordon Campbell has given direction to the police forces in the Province to make drinking driving more acceptable...

Take out the trash on friday comes true....But this is so much more, could you imagine the howls from the media if an NDP flip-flopped on drinking driving laws and promoted drinking and driving!

I hope you BC liberals are happy, the police have no authority to change the law, they cannot  arbitrarily change suspensions from .05  to .06....That order had to be approved by Rich Coleman....

Many people will die from drinking drivers in B.C. this holiday season, how many people will lose loved ones from a impaired driver over .05.....

You can read the story here

The Gordon Campbell Liberals have reached an all time low, this little tweak will not get the smart people who wised up back in the bar guzzling, the damage is done, but rather than allowing people to adapt to designated drivers, taxis, busses the Gordon Campbell(convicted drunk driver) Government has decided to go backwards and stain their hands with blood and brain matter of the victims of drunk drivers!

Gordon Campbell and the BC Liberals have lost the moral authority to Govern the Province of B.C.

When someone dies, not if someone dies......I hope it`s one of your family members Campbell/Coleman......I will shed no tears!

Gordon Campbell is truly not mentally fit to Govern this Province, this Government must be stopped, my condolences to the family members who will receive that 4:00am phone call telling them their husband, their wife, their children are dead.....Carole Berner would have passed the breathalyzer recalibration.....Remember friends, on camera, on voice tape, the RCMP sting on Carole Berner got her to admit she 3 glasses of wine before driving, and according to Rich Coleman, that`s peachy keen and A/OK to consume a few glasses of wine!

Updated here

Read the story at the above link, Carole  Berner admitted to drinking 3 large glasses of wine....When people drink, no matter what their original intention was, the nature of acohol, the first thing to go is good judgement....Carole Berner registered an  alcohol reading after the accident, a low reading, a few hours later with a bigger more accurate breath tester she registered sober, texting and driving kills people, cell phone use and driving kills people, booze is no different....For goodness sakes folks, a non-drinker type person could be plastered on 2 drinks, anyone who defends raising the booze limits has a societal  problem, ...Why .06...Hell, let`s go .07...  .08.....What the hell, let`s
just round it off to 1.0.....You happy now?

Information on recalibration, remember folks, there is a difference between recalibration and moving the limit up!
______________________________________________________________________________________

Description

All breathalyzers indicate BAC (Breath Alcohol Concentration) based on the information stored in the sensor's memory. Exact values of certain specific BAC data are stored so that the sensor can provide the most accurate readings.

Over time, however, these stored values lose accuracy as more tests are conducted. The stored sensor values deteriorate over time with continuous testing and external/ environmental effects. All breathalyzers must be recalibrated to refresh the sensor values and to allow the breathalyzer to obtain accurate readings.

How often does my breathalyzer require re-calibration?
It varies depending on the specific breathalyzer model and its usage but it is recommended that breathalyzers be calibrated every 200 tests or at least once yearly (whichever comes first). Also, if a large number of "high positive" (high alcohol) readings are taken by the device, you may need to have calibration service performed much sooner than normally recommended.

Our calibration procedures?
* Perform functional test
* Test and calibrate the unit for its entire reading range
* Use automated DOT approved "Wet Bath Simulators"
* Replace mouthpieces
* Replace exterior plastic parts if broken
* Complete the task in 5 working days

Grant, the impared driving threshhold is .08.I think they are re-calibrating thier hand-held devices to cover the margine of error, sead to be as mutch as 10%.The old 24 hr.law worked fine.Cheers,s.

I don`t want to argue with you Istvan....You used to get a 24 hour suspension for .05...Now you don`t!

And you say the old drinking driving laws worked fine????????

Explain why thousands die every year in BC and Canada?

Including my Ex who had her parents slaughtered by an impaired driver, including my best friend who was killed when a car crossed the center line on his way to work....

I guess your interpretation of "fine" is a little different than mine.

People who go out intending to consume alcohol must secure alternate sober transport, period!

Maybe when tragedy hits your home your opinion of "fine" will change.

Good day

Boy! If I were one of the people who had been penalized during the past month I'd sure be consulting a lawyer now!

Cherlyb......

I think you are confused, there is nothing wrong with the breath testers...

Don`t you recall Rich Coleman and John Les talking last week and this week about revisiting the new drinking driving laws...Coleman said on radio(cknw)

"it`s OK to have a few drinks and still drive...

This has zero to do with breath testers!!!

This has to do with bars and restaurants going broke and pressuring the BC Liberals with withholding donations!!...That genie will never be put back in the bottle...

And why make this announcement on Friday?

30 years of breath testers and 1 week after Coleman states the new penalties will be revisited all of a sudden breath testers get tweaked upwards......If you believe the bullshit.

Sheesh..

I have swamp land in Florida you might be interested in!

Grant ,why would they recall these devices if they were reliable? cheylb is right!

Grant G said...

Here folks, I will spell it out again....

Coleman/Les...They said they would revisit the new drinking driving penalties....They had two choices, go back to the way it was(and get lambasted) or find a lame excuse!

Never in this province`s history has every breath machine in the Province been moved up...

The devices are recalibrated(for accuracy) all the time...

Eyes wide open!

Breath testers are routinely re-calibrated....

You see folks...Recalibration is standard fare...Bumping the readings up was purely out of political pressure.

And people will needlessly die over this Campbell flip-flop!....They could be recalibrated to 0.52..or 0.53...That would give a tiny bit of leeway, ...now .06 will have wiggle room.

istvan said...

.08 is the law..05 you walk home .I don,t have a beef with the system.

Grant G said...

Your wrong...Do what you want, drink, drive and be merry.... .05 is no longer the law... they raised the limit by 20% to .06...

many parts of the world the limits are lower, much lower, check out Asia, Japan, check out Europe, have a look at what the rest of the world does for limits....You might get a wake up call!

.06 is too high to drive

And you know why....The body doesn`t stay stagnant...The alcohol level is either rising or falling....If you blow .06.....When you blow the next breathalyzer(the mandatory second blow)...

.06 will be higher or lower...You think you can blow on your own personal breath tester before you leave the bar, your drinking booze, you have one, two, three, four, you blow before you leave the club, the reading is .06....

20 minutes later that reading changes, it goes up or down, it will not remain static.

So your suggesting people drink to the point of just under the legal limit?????

nuff said, your adding nothing to the thread, all you want to do is argue in favour of drinking and driving...

I give you lots of leeway, ask any cop about .05 compared to .06

That`s a huge difference.....

Next thing you will be saying one`s reaction time is better after drinking....

Good day

couldnt comment on your new post, but I met Alex at a function in Vancouver last year, he is not even 5foot 10.Iam 5foot 10 and he was shorter than me.

Grant G said...

That`s ok...I turn comments off for a reason...I was making a point about you know who, the man has lied so often, he`s attacked me, Kootcoot, BC Mary, Laila, Contributors..

It proves one thing, he`s delusional or he has never been next to Campbell or Moe, probably both...And yes, he`s shorter than he claims...

There is something wrong with him, I offered an olive branch to AGT on more than one occasion and he spit in my face and called me every name in the book...

You play with fire you get burned!...And..You wouldn`t want AGT to be a witness, he sees things that aren`t these..

Cheers

An obvious move by the LIberals to take the pressure off from Bar and restaurant owners, as stated they need the contibutions. What bothers me most is they are using the police to do their dirty work. If they want an 06 law then change the law. IMHO the old warning readings and penalties were fine, the problem is with drunks at the 08 level and up. We have federal criminal code laws to deal with the 08 drivers and it's those laws that need beefed up.

Campbell and his crew, again creep me out. They cater to their groups that support their
madness. As a member of the population that was hit by a drunk driver, I come at it from
a different angle. ZERO tolerance. As for the frog, he is a waste of skin. As I am banned
from his site, (I proved him wrong, so he banned me), I miss much of his ramblings, but I do
not miss them at all. Onward Grant, lets together rid the land of these bandits. RECALL
THEM ALL!

Just a further note, I was at a lieberal gathering out in coleman / langleyland last summer. He came, he drank, and he drove. So much for an honourable minister. Like his boss, gordo, a pisstank, and a liar.

If you are going out on the town, and you know, you will be drinking. Have a designated driver, that's what we used to do, we took turns. I too knew people who have been killed, by drunk drivers. Practice a little common sense, before you go out.
