Christy Clark`s Family of Unicorns/ Diary of a Meter Maid

Families first, Christy Clark wants you to believe that she cares about your family, well what about the family of the three hundred BC Hydro employees being laid off this week, 750 families in total will see pink slips from BC hydro..

This friends is nothing but a political game of public grandstanding.......I wan`t you to remember this fact all the way through this article..

"private power projects produce 16 per cent of domestic power, but account for 49 per cent of energy costs."

_____________________________________________________________________

Mark down August 12, 2011 as the day BC Hydro all but concluded its suicide mission, with the Campbell/Clark government and the Review Panel playing the role of Dr. Jack Kervorkian.

When you sort through the announcement by Rich Coleman and the verbose report itself, you learn that BC Hydro will cut its future costs by 50%, which in practical terms means this: Hydro will be unable to upgrade its facilities and build generators on flood control dams which means they will buy more and more power from more and more private power producers – which is surplus to their needs – buggering up more and more rivers and streams, thus fulfilling the Campbell/Clark government’s ambition to privatize power in BC.

BC Hydro, in taking all this unneeded power from Independent Power Producers (IPPs), must either export it or use it instead of its own vastly cheaper power. This means that BC Hydro will use power at at least double what it can make it for or export it at half to a quarter what they were forced to pay for it. Last year Hydro wasted $600 million buying IPP power it didn’t need – that money was our money, folks.

This comment on the report by former BC Hydro board chair and SFU political scientist Marjorie Griffin-Cohen. She said that the review – which also called for the utility to cut its proposed 50% rate hikes by half – distracts from the utility's real problem: that  the real burden of cost is the government's policy on private power. "Basically, what they have required to happen in BC is for new power generation to be in the private sector, BC Hydro to buy that and their hope was that this could spur exports of electricity to the United States," she said.

"It was a very serious miscalculation of what was going on. So what we have now is a lot of private power that is extremely costly."

Griffin-Cohen said private power projects produce 16 per cent of domestic power, but account for 49 per cent of energy costs. (emphasis added)

The much esteemed SFU professor and energy economist Marvin Shaffer had this to say:

"The real story in the review panel report, although gingerly and cautiously stated, is that it is government itself which bears major responsibility for driving up BC Hydro costs and rates. It was the government that directed BC Hydro to acquire all new sources of energy from Independent Power Producers (IPPs)

The BC Hydro and Power Authority is a Canadian electric utility in the province of British Columbia generally known simply as BC Hydro. It is the main electric distributor, serving 1.8 million customers
__________________________________________________
BC Hydro has 1.8 million customers give or take a few, giving 750 lower-end employees the boot will save ratepayers next to nothing, if everyone of those employees cost $70,000.00 per year after benefits, 300 hundred BC Hydro employees gone this week, 150 already given the boot, let`s round it off to 500 employees whacked from BC Hydro this year.....Now let`s do the simple math, BC Hydro by laying off these 500 REAL persons will save a whopping $35 million dollars per year on wages.....

35 million dollars divided by 1.8 million BC Hydro customers =.....$19.44 dollars per customer per year....And these customers are billed every 2 months, that means your average BC Hydro customer receives 6 hydro bills per year....

For if BC Hydro returned every dime of savings on human resources and reduced your home hydro bill dollar for dollar the savings every 2 months on your bill would be a whopping....$3.24 cents every 2 months or....$1.62 per month, this political exercise is propaganda at its finest, pure bullshit.....Tomorrow on the cutting edge of the ledge Vaughn Palmer and Balderdash and blue pill Billy will talk about this bloated crown corporation but not one of them will do any grade 3 math and give you the Straight Goods......

BC Hydro is paying 49% of all their revenue to private IPPs power projects for 16% of the power, if BC Hydro carries on with Gordon Campbell`s and Christy Clark`s privatization schemes and fraudulent clean energy act BC Hydro will be buying another 16% from these IPPs and consume 100% of BC Hydro`s revenues, those are the facts, that is why BC Hydro rates are skyrocketing...

The smart meters are being brought in for the sole purpose of real time billing, meaning you will pay a 3 tier rate for power use between 5PM and 10PM each night, .....This whacking of employees at BC Hydro is a farce, it will not reduce rates, well, let me re-phrase that, the firing of 700 employees at BC Hydro will save the BC Hydro ratepayer a maximum of.....

A maximum of....$1.62 per month.

There are roughly 300 meter readers at BC Hydro, those meter readers cost BC Hydro about $18 million dollars per year, the not-so smart meters are costing $1.2 billion dollars to buy and install FIRST GENERATION smart meters.......We could employ those meter readers for 60 years and still not cost as much as these First Generation Smart meters....Perhaps you wonder why I use the term First Generation, well, these smart meters are supposed to, and are theoretically designed to talk to a smart grid.....But we don`t have a smart grid, these smart meters are like having the very first Atari pong game, these phony smart meters will be replaced within a decade, a $billion.2 wasted on First Generation crap......And Rich Coleman along with his fellow snake oil salesmen have the unmitigated gall to state on the record that these smart/dumb meters will help people conserve power....

In-fact, when these devices were first proposed by Gordon Campbell the BC Liberals stated on the record that

"British Columbians, children, teenagers could look at the smart meters inside their home and see their power consumption!" snip

But then questions were asked and a short while later it was revealed that these First Generation Smart Meters would not be put inside the home but outside the home where the old existing meter is.....and..

And it gets better, for a short time later it was revealed that not only are these smart meters not going in the home but the only way to access your home`s smart meter and check on, compare, or see your power consumption you must.....

You must turn on your computer, fire up your tower, turn on your monitor and log onto your smart meter, are you kidding me!!!!....Conservation, crank up the electronics and start burning electricity to check in on your First Generation Smart meter and where is the smart grid?....The Chicken and the egg routine, shouldn`t we have a smart grid first?????...Of course we should, but then David Emerson wouldn`t be able to sell BC Hydro three newer versions of the Smart meter, and at $1 billion dollars plus per round....

A corrupt BC Liberal Government hell-bent on carrying forward Gordon Campbell`s policies, a caretaker Government with Christy Clark`s face plastered everywhere, a phony, a liar, a conwoman..

BC Hydro rates are skyrocketing for 2 reasons, IPP private power buying contracts and smart meters, everything else coming out of Christy Clark`s mouth or Rich Coleman`s mouth is a lie..

Meter readers, they drive through my community, they are eyes and ears, they report problems, they are family, British Columbians, automatic clerkless checkout aisles, selfserve gas, ATMs, technocracy, bigger mining trucks, bigger corporate profits, crewless super tankers, automation, robotics, heck, we don`t even have coal miners, those too are Asian imports....

What the hell is a meter reader?.....Have they too gone the way of the unicorn!

"long time ago, when the Earth was green,

There was more kinds of animals than you've ever seen.

And they ran about and played while the Earth was being born,

And the loveliest of all was the unicorn.

There was green alligators and long-necked geese,

Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.

Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born,

The loveliest of all was the unicorn.

The Lord seen some sinning and it caused Him pain.

And He said, 'Stand back, I'm going to make it rain!'

He said, 'Hey, Brother Noah, I'll tell you what to do,

Go and build me a floating zoo,'

'and take some'.......

'Green alligators and long-necked geese,

Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.

Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born.

Don't you forget My unicorns.'

Old Noah was there to answer the call,

He finished up the ark just as the rain started to fall.

Then he marched in the animals two by two,

And he called out as they came through,

'Hey Lord,'

'I've got green alligators and long-necked geese,

Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.

Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I'm so forlorn,

I just can't find no unicorns!'

And Noah looked out through the driving rain,

Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games.

Kicking and splashing while the rain was pourin',

Oh, them silly unicorns!

There was green alligators and long-necked geese,

Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.

Noah cried, 'Close the door because it's starting to storm,

And we just can't wait for those unicorns!'

The ark started moving, it drifted with the tide,

The unicorns looked up from the rocks and they cried.

And the waters came down and sort of floated them away,

That's why you never see unicorns(Meter readers) to this very day.

You'll see some green alligators and long-necked geese,

Lots of humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.

Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born,

You're never gonna see a meter reader!

Families First eh Christy Clark?.....Perhaps you could expand on that!

The Straight Goods

  1. Grant, While we are talking about Unicorns, I would like to make a wish. I wish the average BCer could see one tenth of the corruption around them as you see it. This policy and others are lining a few pockets at the cost of everyone AND their children and THEIR children. This must stop. I wish for the sake of our future, that we get some leaders who are working for the future of the province and not some corporations and THEIR leaders. WE elect them, but WHO are they working for? It seems like it is hard to not feel like a sheep waiting for slaughter when you are up against those in power on your own. Well, we can see what is happening around the world when those that are alone, unite.

  2. Fine work.

Way to keep up the heat.

You're making a lot of sense, consistently; and doing more for the reader regarding the economy than any other writer i know of.

It all takes me to the paramount question of the present situation--what is to be done?

    Are we to occupy vancouver/victoria/?

Is it time to take a stand--?

Might we make up a new mandate and change the prevailing course?

  3. Occupy Vancouver and demand that BC Hydro be saved from Crusty and Gordo's Fraser Institute mental cases and those who fund the stink tank.
The privatization of Hydro will reduce the standard of living of 99% of BC residents. This is a travesty and those responsible should be run of town with pitchforks, not continually quoted in the lame stream press as legitimate commentators, when they are actually lying dirtbags who should be exposed as such. The sight of Cristy Clark's dumb mug makes me retch.

  4. Well according to "puff Pastery" AGT, only "left wing nutters" are going to the rallies. Wrong! Pensioners, firemen, carpenters, the poor, the unemployed, etc, the 99 % that are getting screwed by big gov, big biz, and narrow minded fools like AGT. He claims he is always right, therefore he is god! What a fool. The reason we are in the mess we are in is because the filthy rich hate the rest! This present day government we have here in BC are as corrupt as they come. From the drunk gordo, the boobsy girl crusty, along with all the rest of those pissflaps over in Victoria called Liberals, should be all charged with treason. Remember folks, most of the wars, most of the poverty in our western societies have been caused by the right, not the left. So drink your single malt scotch AGT, spin more of your lies, cover your ass, but remember, the truth will come out. As a delightful Lady called you Alex, and rightfully so... an annoying little gnat. Sorry for the rant Grant, but I am tired of his bullshit, his lies, and his scotch-corroded mind. Yes I will be there in Victoria, expressing my displeasure with all the basd asses out there. Please keep up the great work please.

  5. Mr. Kam Lee....I give you an AAA for effort, why you continually attempt to enlighten the Grappa Monger is beyond me.

Well, I too am enticed at times to peer deep into the black hole.

    Welcome back to the Sun

  7. For all we know, there could have been a kick back for Campbell, to install these stupid smart meters. Campbell is never one, to pass up a buck. He thieved everything he could get his hands on. A railroad with extremely valuable real estate and entire rivers sold, all in a days work for Campbell.

When Campbell really turned traitor and started to work for Harper, BC went down hill very quickly, financially.

Harper and Campbell forced the HST onto the BC citizens, who were in a severe recession, and still are. Now, family's run out of money before their next payday, they have to bridge the gap, on their credit cards.

This winter is going to be grim. I have heard people say, the HST has really caught up with them. Their savings are gone, credit cards maxed out. Up here in the north, utility bills are deadly. With the hydro going up to 53% higher, family's are not going to survive.

There have been more mill layoffs. It seems Christy's jobs are for the Americans and the Chinese. American won contracts, they bring their own workers with them. Chinese are in school to learn English, they are to work the coal mines. Who knows if the eight mines going into Northern BC, if foreign owned will bring their own miners?

I am all for Harper and Campbell being tried for treason and imprisoned. They would make excellent cell partners.

  8. I couldn't read the above story because there is a black bar running down the right side of the screen. Is that just my pc or what?

  9. 3:09 pm...Perhaps you have your screen resolution set very high..

I`ve had no complaints besides you..

    How are the other posts?

  10. I have a point and a question.
First. If all the meter readers are being laid off, just whom will be replacing them to read the non smart gas meters? Does that mean Fortis will have to hire people to read them?
If that is the case, then expect your gas bill to rise significantly! Someone please give me an answer!!
Second, since the electric meters do not need to be read, I will be burying my super fun meter with piles of foil to help mask the radiation potential. I will be grounding it with the metal meter body. Will it help? I don't know, but if it is removed in a few weeks, I know it worked, but I will put it back again and again.

Who is the king of the drug world?

Who claims 50 times more lives than all the illegal drugs combined? Who costs the American people 130 billion dollars every year to mop up it's blood-bath of human slaughter? Who destroys 1 in every 4 families in America? Who kills over 200,000 Americans each year? Is it crack? Is it cocaine? Could it be heroin?

No, the undisputed heavy-weight champion of the drug world and number one killer of Americans is KING ALCOHOL!

And nobody dares utter a peep!

    THANKS TO KILLER ALCOHOL . . .

There are over 18 million alcoholics in America.
Cirrhosis of the liver kills over 30,000 each year and rising.
50 percent of the people on welfare are due to killer alcohol.
80 percent of all fire deaths are due to killer alcohol.
    65 percent of the drownings
    22 percent of home accidents
    77 percent of falls
    36 percent of pedestrian accidents
    65 percent of all murders
    40 percent of all assaults

  12. Thank you kind sir. I know, you know, Mr. Watkins knows, maybe the piss-tank AGT will apoligise to me, to us for his bullshit. He has a lower then low view on pot, but as he condemns it he is swilling many glasses of that shit each and every day. I do hope he reads this account of the deaths. Maybe one of his puff pasteryites will alert him. Many thanks again Grant. More sunshine from Grant :)
