UPDATED BELOW, December 19th/2012.....Foreign temporary workers, Chinese owned mines, resources being sold out from under our feet..The below post was about how all these jobs have been promised, just like the F35 debacle, the shipbuilding procurement carrot has been dangled since 2007 and not one piece of steel has been cut...Stephen Treasonous Bastard Harper learned this trick form Gordon Campbell, just keep promising jobs, especially around elections...So BC is going to build $billions in new ice-breaking ships, over 3 decades, yet....Yet not one goddamn job now, the new "tentative" start building date is late, real late 2013...Actually, it will be 2015, on the eve of the next Federal election there might be some steel being cut,
Can you tell me why Translink`s newest seabus is being built by a company in the Netherlands?
We can`t build a simple seabus?...According to the report, Translink chose this Netherlands company because their "bid was the lowest"....Are you kidding me, lowest bid, are you saying BC shipyards and the Federal shipbuilding contracts will be tendering bids?
Yes Translink and the Federal deal are separate, however, the Irving shipyards have been delayed too, them until 2015 before any work is done..Why was the lowest bid the decider, what about BC Families first, what about BC jobs, well, WTF!!!
What about German shipyards, what about Asian shipyards, will they be bidding on those Federal shipbuilding contracts?...Because if you read the below post, the ice breakers Ottawa wants are based on a Norwegian designed ship...
What about it Christy Clark, you had a Seaspan orgasm when the Feds announced BC was getting a Federal contract, 18 months later and still no jobs, no vessels, no contracts...Christy Clark, are you telling me BC and Seaspan can`t build a $25 million dollar Seabus?...Translink, a Government entity, Translink funded by the public....Wow, what a vote of confidence you have in BC....Here`s the deal folks..

New SeaBus will continue existing ferry service to North Shore
The announcement was made by TransLink COO Doug Kelsey which will see the existing MV Burrard Beaver ferry service retired from service when the new vessel arrives in 2014.
The $25 million project expected to be operational by fall of 2014, will serve as the second vehicle on the route alongside the MV Burrard Pacific Breeze which began operations in 2010.
TransLink estimates the SeaBus service carries six million passengers each year.
The old MV Burrard Beaver ferry running since 1976, although considered safe, was deemed to have reached the end of its life. It will remain as a reserve vessel and will be available for emergency use. The older MV Burrard Otter will be retired from service completely.
The new SeaBus is expected to be more efficient and exceed current safety and environmental standards.
The project was approved in 2009 as part of the Translink Funding Stabilization plan and has been confirmed in the plan for 2013.“Building a new SeaBus has been part of our plan since 2009 and will ensure continued quality transit service for people on the North Shore,” said Kelsey. “While today’s assets are safe, the replacement ferry will meet contemporary standards, run more efficiently and help keep the air clean.”
The new SeaBus is expected to be similar to the Pacific Breeze with updates to improve fuel efficiency and emissions. TransLink expects significant improvements to their environmental footprint, with the new SeaBus producing less carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, smoke and particulate matter and using less fuel than older vessels.
Damen Shipyards Group of the Netherlands beat out two other competitors in the bid process and was selected to build the vessel

Families First, BC Jobs Agenda, what a sick not funny Joke British Columbia is, Canada is, what a effing joke the BC Liberals are, Translink has stolen $billions from us for dubious projects like the Golden Ears bridge and stolen $millions more in bonuses and pay raises for incompetence and with a project like a new seabus, a simple little Seabus the BC Public would rather pay a little more and build the damn thing here, keep the jobs here, Chinese labour scam and now another foreign built ship being bought by GOVERNMENT, with PUBLIC TAX DOLLARS...how much Christy Clark?..Like the German built ferries and the bribes, how much were the BC Liberals bribed, how big was the donation to the BC Liberal Party?
I suggest you read the below post, you will see the betrayal against Canadian workers and the game Ottawa and British Columbia is playing, sick bastards!
Updated here, December 19th/2012....A local builder bid $27 million dollars, so for $2 million dollars BC gets no jobs, no spin-off economic activity, and...According to sources, Damon shipyards owns 35 shipyards around the world, this new Seabus is being built in...China, again with China.....Christy Clark remains silent, rumour has Christy Clark suffering from oysteritis, and possibly a bout of Pamela Martin hot tub rash...

The Below has been presented by yours truly, right now we are in the midsts of a propaganda war, even the BC Government California jobs fair is a fraud, to all you mainstream media, ask the BC Government how many people were hired at this jobs fair, or perhaps ask if these jobs are contingent upon a bunch of LNG plants opening, and proposed mines, ask some hard questions, and if you gutless media really had any balls you would ask Stephen Harper about what`s laid out below..
Nevermind cowards..
Irving Shipbuilding presses Ottawa on Arctic ship deal
Michael MacDonald
HALIFAX —The president of Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is applying pressure on Ottawa to sign a contract on design work for eight new Arctic patrol ships.
Steve Durrell said Friday unless the contract is signed and engineering work begins by January, the company’s Halifax Shipyard will have a tough time meeting its goal of cutting the first steel for the project in 2015.
“We’ll be looking at this day by day,” he said. “If it gets delayed a month, it will delay the program a month.”
Durrell set the deadline during a briefing that marked one year since the federal government awarded the shipyard a $25-billion contract to build 21 combat vessels over 30 years.
“We are definitely not waiting to get started,” he said. “We are doing everything we can to advance the timetables and begin building vessels for Canada as quickly as possible.”
The company is still negotiating two contracts with Ottawa — one for design work and the other for the actual construction of the patrol ships.
Durrell repeated his company’s promise to have the first patrol vessel built by 2018, which is already three years behind the original schedule.
The ships, first announced in 2007, were projected to cost $3.1 billion to build and $4.3 billion to maintain over their expected 25-year life cycle. Durrell declined to say whether he thinks the costs would rise in the years to come.
The business executive, speaking to reporters at the sprawling shipyard on the Halifax waterfront, also made a pitch to Ottawa concerning the maintenance contract, which has yet to be awarded.
Earlier this week, documents obtained by The Canadian Press revealed the patrol ships will cost more to maintain because National Defence won’t be signing a long-term service contract until the ships are well into construction.
An internal briefing to former associate defence minister Julian Fantino last fall said the project was full of financial questions, starting with the actual cost of building up to eight warships.
Durrell said the final costs have yet to be negotiated. He said the cost of design work will be revealed early next year, but the cost of construction won’t be known until
2015.

And from a story appearing on the front page of the Vancouver Sun, a continuation of pumping up the BC Liberal Government, pumping up jobs that aren`t there, a coordinated effort aligned with the bloated $30 million dollar jobs ad campaign

Isn't Seaspan a derivative of the Washington Marine Group? Isn't that the company Christy's brother was involved with? Seaspan is actually an American company?
ReplyDeleteIt may well be said. We don't have experienced ship builders, the U.S. could bring their own shipbuilders with them.
This is what happened with the tear down, of the old smelter in Kitimat BC. The contract was given to the U.S. They are also building the new smelter. They brought their own workers with them.
Same as BC mines. We have no miners either. Christy is bringing over Chinese miners.
If shipbuilding ever begins in BC? It's a wait and see, just who gets the jobs?
The new Gordon Campbell Bridge costs a fortune but needs to be closed in the winter:

I hope they haven't started tearing the old Port Mann down. Morons.
Washington Marine Group...didn't they get the fast ferries from the Lieberals for less than scrap value?
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your column. It is amusing that the government got suckered by the bridge makers though they will never admit it.
ReplyDeleteY'know, there is porno and there is media porno, but sometime when they fuck up this badly it is hard to keep from laughing about it. Of course the BC government will cover the costs, but when you see us laughing, we are laughing just to keep from crying.
