As a leader, she maxed out her impact after the 2005 election. She was a foil to Gordon Campbell's arrogance, but that offered only a limited upside.

The NDP should have been able to supplant the Liberals in the 2009 election but history showed that something was missing. For my money it boils down to a gender issue, which will not sit well with a lot of people, but facts are facts. There are still a good number of males that do not believe that females are equals and will never support them when the chips are down. I suspect that this is especially true of those that lean to the right side of the political spectrum which may be a problem that Christy Clark and the BC Liberal Party may soon find out. Whether it be the business world or politics, the fairer sex has faced an uphill battle to gain credibility, and there is nothing I see that indicates that things have changed.

Back to the premise of this article, Carole James still has plenty of things to offer to both her constituents and the citizens of BC overall. She has a compassion for the less fortunate and more than enough political experience to make a positive difference for many British Columbians. Her announcement also cuts the legs out from the MSM commentators who only championed her after she was forced to resign.

For the NDP this looks like a win-win situation. For the Liberals, not so much.

One man's opinion.

CamCrankypantsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2435367521078186829.post-3735231232393098782011-06-23T17:45:40.374-07:002011-06-23T17:45:40.374-07:00Just when you think the government cannot screw up...Just when you think the government cannot screw up any more eh !

Canada will rue the day they appointed Campbell as High Commisioner to UK.
